“If we keep no diary [journal], the path crumbles away behind us as our feet leave it; and days gone by are but little more than a blank, broken by a few distorted shadows. Life is all confined within the limits of to-day….”
It was getting ABOUT THAT TIME, so CJ grabbed her clippers, and we all went down to cool off at the Property one evening. Haircut time !! (The videos at the bottom of this post were before the haircuts)
Mom and Dad (Grandpa and Grandma D) came down also, and relaxed.
Tagg - before
Tagg After
Grandpa Roger BEFORE........... And there was no after (he went the next day or to to Great Clips for the hair, but kept his beard)
Thatcher - before
During...........and I forgot to get and after ! Silly Grandma
Who knew you could create some cute short videos on You Tube !?!?!
Loving the Memories !! Remember you can click on Family Videos at the top of the blog to go directly to our You Tube channel, check back often. I'm trying to get a bunch uploaded.
Treyson is in 3rd grade, and had to do a book report - his first ! He was so excited, and did such a great job. Boy book reports are surely different than when I was a young girl. How fun is this ! He got 40/40. Way to go Treyson !
Now Tagg couldn't be left out of the action, and boy does this young man know a lot about dinosaurs !! He is going to be a Paleontologist when he grows up. He is amazing.
And of course Thatcher - wants to be just like his big brothers :)
Usually when I take a video I post it on my You Tube channel. If you click on the Family Video link at the top of the blog, you can see everything that is out there.
Here are some of the latest fun ones. Some, you may have already seen on Facebook.
Also, the other day I found out that Landon and Kacey have a You Tube channel also, devoted to their Crossfit Open workouts. Click here to see all of them.
In this one, Landon get his first muscle up on his first try, and then has 5 or 6 failed attempts, and finally nails 6 more (he needed 7 total) by the 12 minute mark, and then only had 2 minutes to do 50 wall balls - CRAZY !!
Payson graduated from Preschool. I think Kacey is trying to get him into a "summer school", so that he can continue to have the interaction with friends. He loves school, and the teachers. So cute.
This is the funniest video - we have watched it many times, and laughed each time !
Thatcher loves to sing.....if that is what you would call it - funny !
Treyson has a good voice, now we just need to get him some lessons. The Richins are known for their good voices, so maybe he will take after Grandpa Claude and Grandma Shirlee.
This is what a broken bicep looks like............. dang :( About 4 years ago, Rog broke his right one getting wood in the Uintahs. We didn't realize it until 2-3 months later - too late to fix it. Last weekend, remember what we did? Cut down the tree and haul it away? Yup - there goes the other one. At least we caught this one, and hopefully next week he will have surgery to repair. Depending on the MRI's he may be having major shoulder surgery in conjunction with the bicep fix. We'll know more on Monday after a visit with Dr. Harrison.
Last night CJ stopped by with Tagg and Thatch while Zac and Treyson were at football. She had just picked up a HUGE cabbage at Grandpa D's. They were getting rid of the excess leaves. Miss Piggy had a hey day !
Our little goats are warming up a little.
Miss Piggy - oh she's a sweetie. So ugly she's cute ! If you approach her gently, she'll let you scratch behind her ears.
Grandpa and Grandma Ben stopped by also, and we hung out in the barnyard and driveway for a little bit, watching the kids.
Thatch has taken to his STRIDER balance bike like a champ. All I can say, is I'm glad they have a helmet ! I don't know if you want to take the time to load up and watch the 4 minute video below, but my heck, it's sure cute. Boy can he go !
This is the cabbage from Grandpa D's garden 20 POUNDS !!!
Now for our Philippine Crew :) Have you EVER seen such a cute mischevious smile? LOVE THIS BOY (and miss him too :(
Landon and Kacey went on an awesome zip line, down and across a canyon. We saw the video. Looks like SO MUCH FUN !
Sweet Brightyn. No, those aren't teeth, just sparkling gums :)
Kacey said he needed a step stool for his little truck too
Here is a cute pic with Yadi, thei new doggy. Apparently he likes to chew on Brightyn's toes, which she DOES NOT appreciate!
More at the zipline - Dads being Dads of course.......
Bed head and snotty, and we STILL love her ! XOXOXOXOX
I haven't been able to get a good pic of these yahoos since Christmas. It was late, the light was almost gone (but it was BEAUTIFUL light) - the boys were a sweaty mess, Thatch's face was a sight. But they all humored this old lady and let me have my way. LOVE THEM !!!!!
While the adults stood around talking - the kids were a whirlwind of activity, each trying to out do the other with their antics.
Flipping a coin, catching it, and hollering HEADS or TAILS ??!?!?
He had such a sore bottom, he opted for the scooter instead of the balance bike.
Later, this kid disappeared. Where was he? In the car reading. HE LOVES READING !!!
About 3:30 we got to work. These three didn't have any second thoughts. Their nemesis in the barnyard was finally getting his comeuppance.
After a little scuffle, and some excitement....... the deed was done.
It was very educational. These boys were troopers.
Now for the dunk in hot water
Good helpers - Thanks to Grandma who helped a TON with the plucking, and to Grandpa (no pics) who took care of the innards in a masterful fashion. We will be having a feast next Sunday. A 37 pound feast to be exact !
We've been waiting for dryer warmer weather to work on the swingset. It's been about a month since the holes were dug. I've worried about this part so much. Oh how I wish we would have cut the poles quite a bit before setting them in the ground. I was so nervous for Zac to cut them off. We decided on only 12' height. so he had quite a bit to cut.
Thank goodness they were both cut off without any problems. I sure sighed a big sigh of relief when it was done.
They boys had fun playing around on the cross beam before it was put up
It is so fun to be together as a family.
There was an "incident", and some tears...........and apologies................, but it all turned out okay.
I had my doubts that this would work. And I was super stressed about this part too, until I realized that the pole would be on the "down" side of the metal lift (so it wouldn't roll back on the tractor driver and decapitate him).........see? I have my Grandma Dickson in me TO THE BONE !!!
Roger was a MASTER at placing the pole. Zac had cut grooves into the upright poles, so the crossbeam was somewhat cradled. Rog just had to have the soft accurate TOUCH, and put it in place. He did so well! I got nervous here again, with Zac walking under the beam...
After securing the end where the scaffolding was, he got out ON the beams to release the tie downs....... I was stressing.
Grandma took the boys up to the house to go to the bathroom. They both refuse to use the porta john (go figure). While up there, of course she got them ice cream cones.........and Treyson, bless his heart, said, "Don't you think it would be nice if we took one back down to Thatch?"
Instead of moving the scaffolding back to the other side, Zac just used the tractor for transportaion and as a ladder.
He bolted? screwed? the top beam at each end, and will work to fashion some heavy metal brackets to hold it in place.
Tonight (Wednesday), while I wasn't there to take pics, they got all of the holes drilled for the I-bolts, which hold the chains. They got the chains attached, but we won't put the swing seats on until we get the top braced better.
