Growing up

Someone is getting to be quite the BIG BOY
I think he weighs about 185, and you can see he's as tall as his dad and grandpa, which is about 5'10 or 5'11
He is 13 years and 11 months old
He has grown 3-4 inches in the last year.
Roger says he is a BEAST when it comes to mowing lawns.
He definitely has some Great Grandpa Claude Richins and Uncle Norris Richins genes

The Fence

On July 4th - remember the wind?
It took out a BIG portion of the old box elder tree at the back corner of our house.
We decided to take the whole thing down, for safety reasons.
Took down the old barbed wire fencing and fence posts
Had a company come in and cut down the rest of the tree and drill out the stump
We were left with this............
Not much privacy from cars coming down the road, plus the view wasn't too great (haha)
Rog and Zac got to work
Took down clothesline poles that I never used.
Dug holes for the posts
In the middle of all this, Zac had fencing problems of his own :(
Set new posts where we could...........
There was a section right in the middle that the piped ditch ran right through, so we had to leave those out for the time being.
See that section with no posts?
Got busy forming the mow strip up.
Early Saturday morning - August 10th we started the pour.
The kids were there with lights and hammers
Even these two !!
Quick and easy - got er' done
It was lighter when we finished
And just a little bit of rain.........no problem.
We set the anchors to hold the posts that couldn't be cemented in the ground.
It's getting there............
Up go the rails.
I call this one - "Moon over My Fanny" (haha)
Then in with the slats
To finish up, we had to redo some of the sprinkling system.
A good job done !!

A busy weekend

Cam flew in Friday at 3:20 pm.  We picked her up and were out of the airport by 3:30 (seriously) and back in Morgan at 4, and on the creek soon after !!

Wee made another run down East Canyon Creek.  This time with our AZ girl in tow.
She did AMAZING !!! Here above, Zac just got her loaded.  Zac and Roger do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to getting the Kayaks in and out of the stream.
Headed North (downstream) - Tagg and Cam out in front.
Got a cute pic of Thatch as he passed me up :)
We went all the way to Young Street, got out, and retold the epic story of Thatch's misadventure.  A SCARY TIME for him and Zac (as he tried to get to Thatch).  One that I thought would put Thatcher OFF of kayaking forever, but NO.  He recovered quickly from his scare (caught in some branches and tipping........using his mighty gymnastic muscles to hold on............and screaming in ABSOLUTE TERROR for his Daddy).  It was heart wrenching for us to hear (but we couldn't see as we were around a bend).  Hard for Zac as he scrambled back upstream to get to him in shallow water (at first), and then deeper over his head, swimming against the current trying to reach his little boy who although he wasn't in any danger, was totally FREAKED.  Poor kid.  All's well that ends well, and like I said he was totally fine afterwards, and YES, we kayaked again a couple of days later :)
Bright and early at the BC of dawn on Saturday morning we poured the mow strip for our new fence.
The kids came and helped, holding flashlights, hammering on the forms, etc.

Afterwards we had pancakes !!
