“If we keep no diary [journal], the path crumbles away behind us as our feet leave it; and days gone by are but little more than a blank, broken by a few distorted shadows. Life is all confined within the limits of to-day….”
We drove down with Zac and Thatcher on Friday before the big State Championship game (Saturday), and stayed over night so that Zac could be up early to run the race.
13.1 miles - and he did it in 1 1/2 hours - Great accomplishment.
Rog, Thatch, and Zac (picking up his packet the night before.
There was the Homecoming Parade, and all three boys were on floats for football, but I didn't get any good pics :(
Tagg went on his first DATE with Aubryn Jones to the HOCO Dance.
Good group of boys
The Yard Masters worked in the rain on Labor Day
Another Yardmaster problem............. Weed eater WHACKED and broke a window at River Cove that needed to be replaced :(
Notice our boy in the STRANGE family pic? Thatch hangs with Bode and the Nelson family so much, that they had him "stand in" with their family pic (haha)
Treyson with date, Gentry Criddle at the HOCO dance
Most of these boys (all?) are on the football team.
Treyson won a pair of Air Jordan's at a BYU football game that he went to with friends. Everyone was sure jealous ! It was a 1 in 1000 chance. What luck !
On our way to Tagg's Manti game. Zac and CJ are boring car riders (haha)
Thatcher hurt his knee/femur with a BAD bone bruise at football practice, and missed the last 3 games of the season.
Treyson had a birthday - 18 years old
He prefers PROTEIN over Cake
And Zac also had his 42nd birthday on the 28th. Where have the year's gone?
Zac slipping off the back of his work van and caught his elbow on the bumper. Thank goodness it wasn't his elbow attached to the arm attached to the shoulder that he had surgery on ! He worked all day with it bleeding, before he finally went to the doctor to get it sewn up.
Night before the operation - Relaxing on the couch with Thatch.
He says he's not nervous.
Morning of the operation.
Zac had his Labrum repaired, and when they got in there, they found that his Rotator Cuff also needed repair, AND a bone spur needed to be taken care of.
* The labrum is a piece of fibrocartilage (rubbery tissue) attached to the rim of the shoulder socket that helps keep the ball of the joint in place. When this cartilage is torn, it is called a labral tear. Labral tears may result from injury, or sometimes as part of the aging process.
* The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint, keeping the head of your upper arm bone firmly within the shallow socket of the shoulder. A rotator cuff injury can cause a dull ache in the shoulder, which often worsens when you try to sleep on the involved side. Zac is about 3 weeks POST OP as of this post. It's been a ROUGH 3 weeks. Pretty Painful REHAB starts tomorrow !
Here's a Birthday song for me - two days after his surgery.
And here's a picture from last night at the Midway Ice Castles. Glad he is finally able to get up and around and out of the house. Love that smile :)
On July 4th - remember the wind?
It took out a BIG portion of the old box elder tree at the back corner of our house.
We decided to take the whole thing down, for safety reasons.
Took down the old barbed wire fencing and fence posts
Had a company come in and cut down the rest of the tree and drill out the stump
We were left with this............
Not much privacy from cars coming down the road, plus the view wasn't too great (haha)
Rog and Zac got to work
Took down clothesline poles that I never used.
Dug holes for the posts
In the middle of all this, Zac had fencing problems of his own :(
Set new posts where we could...........
There was a section right in the middle that the piped ditch ran right through, so we had to leave those out for the time being.
See that section with no posts?
Got busy forming the mow strip up.
Early Saturday morning - August 10th we started the pour.
The kids were there with lights and hammers
Even these two !!
Quick and easy - got er' done
It was lighter when we finished
And just a little bit of rain.........no problem.
We set the anchors to hold the posts that couldn't be cemented in the ground.
It's getting there............
Up go the rails.
I call this one - "Moon over My Fanny" (haha)
Then in with the slats
To finish up, we had to redo some of the sprinkling system.
A good job done !!
