“If we keep no diary [journal], the path crumbles away behind us as our feet leave it; and days gone by are but little more than a blank, broken by a few distorted shadows. Life is all confined within the limits of to-day….”
We received a phone call last Monday night. Zac was on the line, breathing HARD. "Get dad's binoculars and look out your back window", he said. Then he put Treyson on the line, "Drawhma, we are hiking to the M !"
Sure enough, we could see the speck of white, which was CJ's shirt. Zac was wearing red, so it was harder to see. Zac carried Tagg on his shoulders, CJ carried Dorkey. Treyson plodded along, and a great time was had by all :)
I hiked to the "M" this morning with a friend. It took about 1 1/2 hours, and we went 2 miles. Going up is hard, but coming down is even harder because you have to be so careful not to slip and fall on the rocks. We passed a guy who had done the hike 4 weeks in a row, and I know of another woman in Morgan who hikes it daily. I need to get in shape for Machu Picchu, but I don't know if I'll try the "M" every week or not. Maybe I better switch to Hardscrabble, there are hills, but at least they are paved :) Sorry I don't have any pics, but my camera is broken. Check here for pics from last year.
I hiked to the "M" this morning. It was great ! Left the cemetery parking lot at 6:05 and got to the "M" at 6:40. I hung around until Teresa and Jenny Lake got there, and we took pics, and visited. Don't know for sure what time we headed back down, but it was 7:55 when we got back to our cars. What a wonderful way to start the 24th of July !
