Activities during Cam's week with us in Utah

Ragnar Race went right by our home.
Cam made a sign, and we sat out front near the road and encouraged the runners.

She wrote "GO" on one side (with flowers :)
and
"You Can Do It" on the other (with hearts:)

99% of the runners gave her a thumbs up and said "Thank You" !

Jumping on the trampoline with her buddy/cousin
Treyson - they LOVED this !
The only problem was keeping Tagg off the tramp and happy !

Putting together a puzzle with
Aunt CJ's help.

I heard Cam spelling CJ (S-E-E-J-A), and so we had a mini learning lesson, where I wrote Christel Jo and C.J. and explained it.

Then we got into the Camryn "Dee", and how it stands for MANY things.
D for Dickson
D for the "D" in Roger D.
D for Delore (Grandpa Ben's name)

She was pretty happy and excited to hear and understand where the "Dee" came from. I'm so glad Manda gave her a middle name. I didn't' have one, and always said I'd give my girls one, but I never did....... I'm happy Manda knows her own mind, and does what she feels is right.

Here they are playing with the DI toys in the sand.
Their favorite thing is to make "Birthday Cakes".

At the water park/splash pad in Riverdale.
Tagg would get NO CLOSER than this......he's a little cautious.

Treyson and Cam had no such qualms.
They ran around and had a ball !

More fun at the property. This was on Monday night, and it was still
kind of chilly. Notice Cam's boots ! They were all she wanted to wear. By the end of the week, they smelled so bad from sweat, that I conveniently "lost" them.......

Fun with Uncle Landon - he's great with the kids, and they love him and Kacey so much.

I finally talked Cam into getting on the swing.
She's been pretty nervous about it. She ended up liking it alot.
Given the choice though, she'd rather by the "pusher".

She helped me to make cupcakes and potato salad.
She loves to help and cook.

Our Life Lately

Cook out at the Property

Camryn loves "Dorkey" (I mean Rusty)
She wants to be a Vet when she grows up

Treyson and Cam get along pretty good most of the time.

Fun with Lando on the trampoline.
Cam was pretty cautious.........Treyson? Not so much :)

Zac's cheering section at the Gerald Andersen 5K

Cam's up from AZ, and we've been having a GRAND ol' time :)

Saturday, June 12th - Zac ran in the Gerald Andersen 5K run. He placed 4th in his age group, same as last year. It sure was cold and rainy :(

Monday, Roger took Treyson and Camryn to see Marmaduke a the theater.

Tuesday, Camryn spent a few hours with Treyson playing in his backyard, in the pool and the sandpile.

Wednesday, we headed to Ogden with CJ and the kids and met Landon at a park in Riverdale for a picnic lunch, played on the big toys, and also the "Splash Pad". Then we headed to the DI to buy sand pile toys for the new sand pile at the Property.

As we were coming out of the DI, there was a BIG 15 passenger van, and on the back window were little decals......... You've seen them, with a Dad, a Mom, and kids....... Well I thought I'd point this out to the kids, and started counting the "kid" decals...........there were 10 !! As I got to 10, raising my voice in exclamation, Cam said, "There are 10 kids?!?!", and a ladies voice behind us said, "Yup, that's right - 10 kids !" I was kind of embarassed, but even more so when Treyson spoke up just as loud as could be, and said to her......... "How do you handle 10 kids !?!?!" Thank goodness she just laughed, and said, "Sometimes it's pretty hard :)" CJ and I just looked at each other with BIG eyes, we couldn't believe that came out of Treyson's mouth !!!

Saving MORE money

This is going to be a LONG coupon post, so if you aren't in to that, don't bother reading :)

No really, keep reading......... I'll feel bad if you quit (haha).

I started to Ogden last Friday with BIG plans. I stayed up late the night before, organizing and going through all of my coupons, getting the "game plan" ready.

I headed to Walmart to begin my couponing (is that a word?) adventure. The thing I dislike the most, is wandering around the aisles, trying to find the items I need. I had 3 big high value coupons, and managed to FINALLY find the appropriate merchandise, only to find out at check-out that the scanner would NOT read the bar code on the coupons :/ I put the things back, because I was on a mission, and I'm not going to pay full price, right? (I found out later at another store, that the cashier could have just typed in the numbers above the bar code (argh!!!!).

I left Walmart, totally unsatisfied, and walked into the rain which continued to pour ALL DAY LONG........

Next stop, Petsmart, where I planned to buy Dorkey some treats - FOR FREE !! But once again I was foiled :( The doggie treats were not on sale 2 for $4.99 like I was informed....... I left the store empty handed.

At this point, I was seriously discouraged, but I held my head up and headed to Walgreens in Roy. I was planning on doing some SERIOUS business here. Imagine my disappointment when I found almost ALL of the deals were GONE :/ The clerk informed me that Monday (after the weekly killer sales are announced) was the day to come. That's kind of hard when I work 10 hours a day and live in Morgan. Oh well, I spent about an hour in the store, and scored on what deals I could.

Still in the pouring rain, I headed South on 1900 to Smith's. Picked up some good deals here, and I was feeling okay. I was getting the hang of it, but it DOES TAKE TIME.

I took a little time out and went to the temple. I sure needed it. Afterward I met Roger at Sears and SCORED with the deal there. We bought him $50.00 worth of clothes, and we will get a coupon in the mail for $50.00 to spend on MORE men's apparel at Sears, so basically $100.00 in clothing for $50.

We were hungry, so we headed to Arby's. Why? Because I had coupons of course !! We only spent $6 on supper, where it usually would have cost us near $10.

On the way home we took a chance and we stopped at the Walgreens next to Maceys on 36th street in Ogden. YAHOO !!! I found my deals the eluded me in Roy - happy day ;)

So, do you want to hear the FINAL savings of the day?

Want to see a picture first??

All the merchandise in the picture above would normally cost $179.00 - no lie.

I paid..........

dun dun dun...........

FIFTY TWO DOLLARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's 71% savings overall

Was it worth it??.......... that is a good question.

Now that it's over, YES. While I was being rejected in store after store, walking through the rain, NO. Will I do it again? What do you think? ;)

Another day at the Property

Zac and Christel and the boys have cleared an area
at the south end of the property.
They hope to make a secluded little campground.
Maybe we can sleep down there in a tent soon.

We've decided to build a bigger sandpile,
in hopes that Tagg will be content playing there
instead of running to the river.

We spotted a male Mallard Duck just across from the platform.

The boys were fascinated by it.
Can you tell CJ is a nervous mama??
Go CJ - keep a hold of that boy !

All done, now we just need to
fill it with more sand :)
and......little boys
Wait a minute - where's Tagg?
What a kid :)

Saving a little money

I have become addicted to a new site on the internet called Freebies2Deals.com.

I have followed it for almost 2 weeks now, and can't believe some of the savings I have been able to get.

Last weekend I took Roger shopping with me. He was sure a sport. We went to two stores, Family Dollar and Walmart.

I bought these items below.

All totaled, they would cost $38.70, but I only paid $10.70 for all of them !! Yahoo !!
That is a 72.35% savings !!

I'm headed to Ogden tomorrow, and I'll report back on my savings this week !

Check out Freebies2Deals.com. You won't be sorry. - Oh, and start saving your Sunday coupon ads from Red Plum, Proctor and Gamble (P&G), and Smart Shopper (SS), unless you want to give them to me ;)

A Day in Salt Lake City aka A Very Long Post :)

I took the picture below. Awesome, isn't it?

Friday, June 4th I headed to the Salt Lake Temple. I had big plans to do baptisms, initiatory, an endowment, and sealings. Things didn't go as planned, but it was a great day anyway.

This will be a long rambling post, but I want to write it all down so I can remember it forever. First off, when I arrived at the temple, I went through the main doors, and then asked to be directed to the baptismal area. WOW - you can't believe the "walk", it is really amazing. You basically head downstairs, and AROUND the perimeter of the east and south sides of the temple. It is a long walk, along a LONG hallway.

Along the way, I passed the marriage waiting room, and it was full, just like the day Keysto and Kaley were sealed. As usual, there were many brides on a Friday. I continued heading south along the hallway, when I came to an entrance from the parking garage under the Main Street Plaza, and another recommend desk !! Surprising!, then I turned West, and headed along another long hallway. There was a security guy in a golf cart - another surprise :)

Finally I came upon the doors heading to the baptism area (to my right), but I could see that the hallway/tunnel continued west, I'm assuming to the tabernacle. I pressed a button, and was "buzzed" into the baptism area. Here was a busy beehive of activity, filled with youth. I found that they were very very busy, and it would be a 2 hour wait, so I decided to go ahead with an endowment session.

After entering the Celestial Room, I went to the small sealing room just off to the side. It is very small, with seating only for about 10 persons. There is a beautiful stained glass window there, depicting Joseph's vision in the Sacred Grove. It is spectacular.

After a few sealings, I returned to the dressing room, and once again headed back down the LONG ROUNDABOUT hall way, to check on doing baptisms once more........there was still a 2-hour wait :( - so I determined that it just wasn't going to happen for me that day. It was now about 2:30, and I was famished !

I dressed and headed over to the top of the Joseph Smith Building, where I proceeded to lunch all by myself at "The Garden" ! You would be proud of me Amy :) I would never dream of eating alone in a restaurant, and will go to all lengths to avoid it, but I asked for a window overlooking temple square, and I sat and enjoyed the view, the wonderful salad, whole wheat rolls, and soup. I was looking out THIS window (see picture below).

I texted Landon a few times. I reminded him that the last time I had eaten here was with him, on our special day, just the two of us, at temple square in 2003. Here's a picture ! Doesn't he look so young? He was 14 at the time.

The building that is going on downtown is something to behold. I would love to work and/or live in this area.

After eating, I visited Deseret Book, and spent too much money !! I love books !

I also saw THIS !! I wonder how many people walk right by this, and never give it a second thought? It's ONLY the GROUND ZERO, by which all locations in UTAH are based upon.

Okay - a quick lesson. I work in the Assessor's Office, and everyday almost, I deal with legal descriptions of property. They all say something like....... Property located in Section 3, Township 3 North, Range 2 East, SLB&M.

SLB&M stands for Salt Lake Base and Meridian, and that's just what this marker is. A Township is made up of 36 sections (6 x 6 square), each of them a square mile. In Morgan County, we have Township 1 North and 2 East. This is located in the extreme southern end of our county, up by Big Mountain. We also have Township 7 North, Range 6 East. This is located up by the Rich County border, in the extreme North end of Morgan County on Deseret Land & Livestock property. If you were to go to St. George Utah, the Townships and Ranges there would be something like Township 27 South, and Range 8 West. All directions/locations like these in the state of Utah are based upon this tiny little marker on the South East corner of Temple Square. Thank you Brigham Young !! :) For more exacting info on this (and you know you want it :), Click here.

Then it was a walk back through temple square, the flowers were spectacular.

I did stop in at the South Visitor's Center, and viewed the new display of the interior of the SL Temple. It was awesome, but you know what?? I still wasn't totally understanding it all. I've had to come home and sketch it on paper. There are so many rooms that the day to day temple patrons to not need to use. While in the temple, I had even asked one of the workers if it was possible to use or see the circular staircases (there is one in each corner of the temple, top to bottom). They said, "Sorry, but no".

Well, was my day over? Not yet. I walked across the street to the Conference Center and took the tour there. It was just me, and two ladies from Ontario Canada who were in town for a work conference. They were not members, and the sweet lady who took us on the tour (and myself) were able to answer, explain, and discuss may of the things that Mormons believe.

They were of course, impressed with the seating inside the big auditorium. Who wouldn't be? And we were lucky enough to hear an organist practicing. They loved that !

But the paintings throughout the building were the most talked about. They were interested in every one, and it was inspiring and testimony building to explain to them about Joseph's first vision, the Savior appearing in the America's after his resurrection, and all of the Book of Mormon pictures.

Last but not least, we went to the rooftop of the Conference Center. Did you know there is about 3 to 4 acres up there? Water features and trees, planted not in dirt (too heavy), but in crushed shale with nutrients added. The East side is planted like a forest with pines, etc. and the West side is planted like a natural meadow. This simulates what the pioneers saw as they came out of Emigration Canyon, those many years ago. It was beautiful.

And we ended the tour, looking across and down on to Temple Square. It was a wonderful day.

Treyson's Biggest Fan

We all enjoy Treyson's T-ball games.
Honestly, they are short, sweet, and really entertaining.
Treyson's the kid with the mitt on his head.
He spent most of this game, drawing his name in the dirt with his finger.
By the end of the game, almost all of the players were following his lead :)

Here we've got Zac chatting with Dusty Dawson,
Grandpa Ben in his trusty Chair
Grandpa Roger, Grandma LuAnn (in blue)
CJ hidden behind Grandpa & Grandma "D", and....
Treyson's biggest FAN (cute little guy in red & white)

This little guy LOVES baseball, Treyson, and being noisy.
Not necessarily in that order

Don't believe me?
Just check out this video below.
