“If we keep no diary [journal], the path crumbles away behind us as our feet leave it; and days gone by are but little more than a blank, broken by a few distorted shadows. Life is all confined within the limits of to-day….”
I didn't appreciate this the first time. My good friend mentioned that it was an OUTSTANDING moment for her at conference. I listened a second time.....still didn't FULLY appreciate it. Looked up the words.......listened again. LOVE IT !!
Take 6 minutes. Push play. Read the words. Enjoy the Spirit.
Ah, turn me not away, receive me though unworthy.
Ah, turn me not away, receive me though unworthy.
Hear Thou my cry, hear Thou my cry,
Behold, Lord, my distress!
Answer me from Thy throne,
Haste Thee, Lord, to mine aid!
Thy pity show in my deep anguish, Thy pity show in my deep anguish.
Let not the sword of vengeance smite me,
Though righteous Thine anger, O Lord!
Shield me in danger, O regard me!
On Thee, Lord, alone will I call!
O divine Redeemer, O divine Redeemer!
I pray thee grant me pardon, And remember not
Remember not my sins!
Forgive me!
O divine Redeemer! I pray Thee, grant me pardon
And remember not, remember not, O Lord, my sins!
Night gathers round my soul
Fearful, I cry to Thee,
Come to mine aid, O Lord!
Haste Thee, Lord, haste to help me!
Hear my cry, hear my cry
Save me, Lord in Thy mercy;
Hear my cry, hear my cry!
Come and save me, O Lord!
O divine Redeemer! O divine Redeemer!
I pray Thee, grant me pardon, and remember not
Remember not, O Lord, my sins!
Save in the day of retribution
From death shield Thou me, O my God!
O divine Redeemer, have mercy!
Help me Savior!
Some of you may wonder why I have entitled our Blog, "Come What May, and Love It". This was taken from a talk given by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, an apostle in our church. I was there in person, in the Conference Center last fall when he gave it. It spoke to me, and has helped me, and I will always remember it. Elder Wirthlin passed away in December. Today as we watch General Conference, his position in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will most likely be filled. I am grateful for the gospel in my life. I look forward to hearing the words of our leaders today and tomorrow. You can watch conference here if it is not broadcast in your area.
One of my favorite talks from last conference was by Elder Wirthlin. I felt inspired to share it during November when we went visiting teaching, and as I studied it, and prepared the message, I felt it had such meaning in my own life. Elder Wirthlin passed away a few days ago. He will be missed.
