Sleepover with the Littles (and one Biggie)

I think the thing that the grandkids will remember me for the most, is the cooking that we do.
I let them help, and teach them things, and they are so smart, and love to help.
We had grilled cheese sandwiches (above)
And tomato soup (here) - this is one of their favorites.............right after my famous Pizza, and Roger's famous Macaroni and Tomato Juice.  I hope they remember these times forever.
Tagg will remember this for sure, bless his heart.  He dropped the Chocolate Milk powder, and sure felt bad.  The Littles,  got their fingers wet, and got a few LICKS in before Grandpa cleaned it up with the vacuum.  No use crying over split chocolate !!!
Then we cut up the rest of the sugar cookies we made the other day.    We used Easter cutouts, and made rabbits, and eggs, and flowers, and butterflies.
Then we decided to boil eggs so we could color them.  Bright planted her little self right in front of the stove, so she could keep and eye on them............and also SNEAK a little frosting.
Then the boys went over to watch some TV, and she helped me fill the plastic eggs...............or I guess I should say, SHE did all the work.  She did such a great job, and everytime one would give her problems, she would say, "This is just so COMPLICATED".   She is determined and smart.
Then she frosted this beautiful butterfly sugar cookie.  Look at those EYES and SMILE !?!?!   I loved it.
This is the next morning, before we left the house.  Payson checking out the chicks.
He is bound and determined that they need a chicken coop at THEIR house.
We dropped him off at home, and saw this cutie patootie - Bexlee Boo.  She was all smiles and hugs and kisses.
Payson was STILL counting out his money.................he wants his own chicken coop SO BAD !!
It was a GREAT time with the Grands.

Chicken Ranch

We descended on IFA last Friday afternoon.
There was LOTS of squealing.......by one little girl :)
Peek -a- boo !!!
We ended up with 9 at IFA, and then Tagg chose 3 at Tractor Supply in Morgan.
This is Brownie - Payson's chick
Bright isn't hold hers here in this pic.
Her's is named BlackOUT (and he's the darkest one in the bunch)
I think Thatcher named his Jim (I think) and I can't remember Tagg's at all.
Oh boy, it's always an exciting time.  Zac built us this little chicken coop many many years ago, and every spring we get new babies, and use it as a "nursery" of sorts, since we built the bigger one.  They stay here until they get big enough to fend for themselves in the big coop.
They all seem  to be doing really well.  No Pasty Butt.
Yes, it's a thing..........  Join the Backyard Chicken Club on FB, you can learn alot !!

***UPDATE.........that $#%&* dog busted through the metal screen net (see above, just below Thatcher) and decided to PLAY/EAT/MAUL  FOUR, yes FOUR of the little chicks............. we are down to 8 :(

Don't tell Bright, but Blackout was one of the casualties.  We need to get back to IFA and buy a TWIN before she comes up again !!

Our Beautiful Daughter - 39 years

April 9, 1980
We were so very happy to get a little girl in our arms again.  It had been a year and about 4 months since Ambure had died.  I wanted a girl so badly.  She was teeny!!  I always say that she reminded me of a little baby bird that fell out of a nest.
6 pounds 4 ounces (I think), and lost down in the 5's before we brought her home.  She started gaining fast though, because she was such a good little nurser.  Best of all my babies.  She became a thumb sucker early on, and we were totally okay with that.  She had a blankie, and would pull the fringe through her fingers.  Oh how we loved her, she was such a joy.  Then she grew up (haha) - and we still loved her (even through the teens........though she about drove us crazy).  And now...........?????
Manda is seriously a wonderful person, WONDERFUL mother and wife.  Wonderful friend, and WONDERFUL daughter Hard worker, smart, conscientious, caring...........and the list could go on and on.
Here she is with friends Therese, Jessica, Tracy,  and of course Cam.

Hooty Hoot Rich

Saturday morning............early........Zac, leaving the house saw something on the driveway.......Not moving.........still...........but alive !!!
Baby Owl - Hooty Hoot Rich
Mom and Dad Owl live at the Property.
We've not sure why this little one was not moving.  He appeared to have NO INJURY...........but just about toppled over on his side when Zac first stopped.
CJ called someone from Wildlife Resources, and they came and got him and took him to the Ogden Bird Refuge on 12th street.  Hopefully he will be okay.
