Our Trip to Yuma

Yuma Trip - March 2011
My sister and I took a trip to visit my parents who were "snowbirding" in Yuma. They are home now. They made us feel very welcome, and we enjoyed a relaxing time with them. We were able to enter Mexico (first time for Kuk), and also took a day and drove over to San Diego to go to the temple. On the way back to Utah, we stopped in Mesa and picked up Cam for a visit (picture coming soon). Life is great !  Click on the image above to be directed to our Picasa photo album, and then cycle through the slideshow.

Sneaky..............

While I was watching the little boys on Saturday morning (after a Friday night sleep-over), I heard a "crunch-crunch-crunch" coming from over in the kitchen. I had been sitting in the living room crocheting, not paying much attention........ "crunch - crunch - crunch".... what WAS that noise?? over and over again..........

For your information, 3 crunches is all it takes to devour ONE cheese ball. I guess when he lifted the BARREL down from the counter, there was a small mishap. Not one to let things go to waste.......and KNOWING that Grandma would put a STOP to this............Tagg took FULL ADVANTAGE of the situation, being as quiet and possible, except for the "crunch, crunch, crunch".

Of course, right when I figured out what was going on, his parents walk in the back door, and see the whole thing. Just my luck :)

Moo Cow Mania

We have the best friends and neighbors in our neck of the woods.  I was able to take the grandkids up to see how cows were milked.  Aaron and Trevor were AWESOME !  The kids were so excited.

I love the look on Aaron's face.....he is just short of shaking his head, at all the questions that Treyson is firing at him.  Treyson is quite the talker.

I tell you, those kids got UP close and personal, and showed absolutely NO FEAR !  I was really impressed that they were totally at ease around those big animals.

Tagg spent most of his time, looking out into the barnyard at the cows.  He was all smiles, except for when the cow got "super mad" (check out Video #2)

It was an awesome experience,  the kids had a ball and will remember this for a long long time.

Thanks !!!

Practicing for the Variety Show :)

After it was all over, I realized she needed to lose the gum. She takes after her grandma in that department, NOT her mom. What a wonderful week we have had. I have a new appreciation (haha) for Taylor Swift, as Cam discovered www.taylorswift.com, and I've heard ALL the songs all week. Gotta love it !!

"Can I Marry My Cousin?"

A little 5 1/2 year old boy, who is DYING to see his 7 year old cousin from Arizona asked his mom this sweet question.

"Can I Marry My Cousin?"

Well, let's see......

Sanford Married Nancy

and they had

John President and Lyman Wright (brothers)

and they had

Sanford Coulson and Lyman Ozias (1st cousins)

and they had

Sanford Orin and Franklin (2nd cousins)

and they had

Anona and Thelma (3rd cousins)

and they had

Lee and LuAnn (4th cousins)

and they had

Gwen and Roger (5th cousins)...........
uh.............

Yes Treyson, you can marry your cousin.............only in Morgan :)

Shout Out - Get a Colonoscopy !

My cousin, Joan Adams, on Good Morning Utah ! She inspired me, and thank goodness I came out with a clean bill of health (healthy colon). It was easy, no pain, no reason not to. You owe it to your family. Don't be like Doug Miller and put it off. Are you listening Roger D?

Talk like a Morganite...............

I hope this post doesn't offend.  Maybe I should have entitled it, "Talk like me" - anyway, here goes:

Moun - uns (We've sure got big ones, and on the other side of them is.....(see next word:)
Lay - un  (A city on the other side of the (see previous word:)
Crick (not the one you get in your neck, the one that runs through the property :)

Lie-locks (my favorite flowers that smell heavenly)
Morgun (no, not Oregon) or if you try and be MORE specific..........
Richveal  (no, not Richfield)

Now for ones, that I don't personally use...........but I have heard others around town say.......

Somethink (something)
Granite (as in taking something for granted)
Closent (where you put your clothes when you aren't wearing them)
Perry knife (the little knife you peel apples with)
Amblee - ence (emergency vehicle)
Mo-tail (motel)
Graded (as in the cheese was grated)
Verily (as in, "The window is so dirty, I can verily see out of it")  - wait a minute, that's only Steph, and she's not technically from Morgan (haha).

We go DOWN the canyon,  or we go UP to Henefer.
We go UP to Porterville or DOWN to "Moun-un Green".
Of course if we are in Porterville, then we go DOWN to Morgan.
And if we are in Mountain Green, then we go UP to Morgan.
If you live where I do (Rich-veal) - then you just go OVER to Morgan ;)

Confused yet??

Places:

Harchgravel   (as opposed to Hardscrabble)
Loss Crick (as opposed to Lost Creek)
Eees Canyon (as opposed to East Canyon)
Taggarts (it's not supposed to be plural)
Evingston (that would be Evanston)

We refer to Highway 89 between Lagoon and the mouth of the canyon as "The Mountain Road"  or should I say "Moun - un" Road.

Highway 89 going UP the hill at the mouth of the canyon is Uintah Dugway or just "The Dugway".

and "the canyon" is Weber Canyon of course.

We know where to find:

The Devil's Slide
The Devil's looking-glass
The Devil's eye
Devil's Gate

AND
The Dirt Spot

Alot of us work at the  BASE, or  the PLANT (or the SLIDE)  - and we don't have to specify further than that.

The word COMO, evokes smiles, sighs, dreamy looks and remembrances of summer days soaking in the sun, feeling the splash, hearing the music and the screams of laughter, tasting the taffy, smelling the Hawaiian Tropic, watching the farm boys in levi cut-offs doing dives into the 10-feet........... ahhhh Summer of '75.............but I digress........

For some of us........

7-11 will always be DayBair
Jubilee will always be Roger's
Spring Chicken Inn will always be Larry's
and Ace Hardware will always be Coast to Coast

Can you think of any more "Morgan - isms"? - if so, leave me a comment !

My "Pick me up" :)

A couple of Fridays ago, I spent most of a day with my friend at the Huntsman Center. I met Theresa almost 3 years ago. We ate lunch together at Costa Vida at the top of the dugway, and the rest is history :) Our sons served together in Peru Lima North, and lucky her - she will have ANOTHER missionary leaving next month for Australia. GO ALDEN !

Theresa is one of the most kind persons I know.  She can make everyone she comes in contact with feel special.  She had a happy and interested "hello, (insert name here)" for everyone she interacted with.  It was obvious she knew them, knew ABOUT them, AND their families.  You could tell they all love her.

She makes me want to be a better person, to try harder, to be kind and gentle, TO BE POSITIVE!  Man, can that girl be positive.  I was thinking last night of writing this this blog post and what I would like to say, and I realized that I have NEVER heard Theresa speak negatively of anything or anyone.    I can't claim the same, can you?  But you know what?  I'm going to try harder to be like my friend.  I sure love her :)

I truly feel that Theresa is one of those "tender mercies" that Father sent into my life.  ONE of those "mission blessings", that didn't go away when it was over. I am so very grateful for my friend, and always will be.

Her motto is, "Life is 10% what happens to us, and 90% what we decide to do about it" - Thomas Edison  She decided a LONG time ago,  to do it right.  She is happy.  She is Christlike in all things.  She has truly been through the refiner's fire.  I am proud and blessed to call her my friend.

Love you Theresa! See you soon :)
