Baseball down South

This doesn't look much like a baseball picture, does it ?!?!
No, but it was just as entertaining.   Kacey and Carol know just what to do to keep little girls (not just ours, but ALL the little girls at the ball park) entertained while brothers play ball.  Go to the dollar store and spend about $40 !!  It works !!!
Here is Coach Landon, and #4 - Payson
Payson played shortstop, 3rd base, and pitcher
There were 4 games.
2 in St. George, and 2 in Bunkerville NV (just outside of Mesquite).

Grandma Ben went along for the crazy quick trip.
We left Thursday morning at 5am, and got home Friday night at 9:30 pm
Quick trip, but TONS of fun !!
It was so nice and warm.
The kiddos sure enjoyed the pool at the hotel.
It is fun to watch Landon as coach.  He sure does a great job IMHO.
The entertainment continues....................... :)
Here's the crew - I took another pic, with Grandma Carol in it.
Also, watch these two crazy fun videos - you won't be sorry.

Spring Training !!

Landon and Payson headed out a couple of weeks ago to sunny Arizona, to watch MLB Spring training, and also Payson's Dominica team play in a tournament.  Pays had turned 10, and wasn't able to participate, but he enjoyed cheering on his team.
It was hard to contain the jealously when they facetimed with little Cash !!
They stayed at Manda and Bren's and used an uber to get around.
Doesn't that look great !!  Just love big nice ball fields.
They had a great time, and were home just long enough to pack another bag and head to St. George for more baseball tournaments.  This time Payson could play !!  Stay tuned for the next post about that !

Odds and Ends

Here are Bentley and Bexlee at West Haven Crossfit.  I think we are going to get a little red head with Bentley !!  She is sure smiling now.  Click here to see video of the fun night we had supporting Landon and family at Crossfit.
It took us a few days..........but we finally saw the sign on our garage.  Not sure who put it there, but we got a laugh  !!
Ivory and Birch is surely ramping up the business, and it's all hands on deck to help out.
Treyson is recovering well from having the screws removed from his ankle surgery in January 2021.  He will be in a boot for a few weeks, but everything looks good.

WACKY Winco Experience

Headed to the Bunk Candy aisle - in the bowels of Winco

What happens when you let Grandpa Roger and Thatcher loose in the Bulk Candy aisle at Winco..............unsupervised................????
I just stood back and let them do their thing, and didn't really pay much attention to what they were doing.  After humming and hawing, and picking and choosing, they finally had about 4-5 bags of different kinds of goodies in the cart.  We headed  from the bowels of Winco to the front of the store to check out.  Just about when we were to get in line, Thatcher says to me, "Grandma, how do they know how much to charge us for the candy, do they just count the pieces?"..............Uh........... "No Thatcher, they just weigh them by the pound"...........UH.......... wait a minute !!!  You guys marked the bags with the numbers on the BINS, right?

NOPE !!......What numbers?  What tags?  Huh??
Back to the bowels of Winco we headed, I was laughing all the way, Grandpa was pretty sheepish, and Thatcher got a BIG kick out of it.   We finally got all of the bags TAGGED with the BIN # of each different type of candy, and we were set to go BACK up to the front of the store, where we OF COURSE, picked the WRONG LINE  - AS USUAL........
Doesn't matter which line we pick, it is always the SLOWEST.
When we finally reached the checker, he had a hard time reading the Bin #'s
Then I paid with credit card, and it was refused because they only take DEBIT
I was apologizing to the checker, using the excuse, "Sorry, we don't come to WINCO very much", and under my breath I said, "and we probably won't be back again !"
What an experience !!! What a night !!
I told Roger it was BLOG WORTHY..........but maybe you had to be there :)

Brightyn loves to Dance!!

This was the beautiful dress/outfit that she danced to, for the song "Remember Me" from Coco - my FAVORITE !!  She danced beautifully and expressively, and we enjoyed it very much.
This next dance was a HIP HOP (I think !) - she was the star, and did the gymnastics for the group !!  It was fun to watch, and Bexlee loved the music so much, she danced in the aisles too !

Here's a clip of Brightyn dancing - Click here
Here's a clip of Bexlee dancing - Click here
This must have been the outfit for the last dance, but we weren't able to stay for that one.
Good Job Bright !!!!

Bentley's Blessing Day

Bentley Rich was blessed and given a name last Sunday, March 6, 2022

Her dad, Landon Lee Rich gave the blessing, and Uncle Keysto Porter, Grandpa Gary Brooks, and Great Grandpa Vern Gillmore stood in the circle.

Bentley was blessed to have health in both body and spirit as she grows.  To have a strong mind, full of knowledge of truth and light.  To be able to choose right from wrong, and to choose good friends.
She was blessed to be able through prayer and faith, to be able to choose a partner who will take her to the temple where she will be able to make covenants, and be sealed for time and eternity, including living a long and happy life.

We sure love this little grand-daughter.  She is so sweet.

44 years ago today :)

Today marks the anniversary of our first baby Ambure's birth.
Wasn't she a beautiful baby?
She looks so serious in this picture.  I wonder if she knew her time with us would be so short?
We look forward to the day when we will be with her again.
Families are FOREVER !!

Memories - mowing the lawn

Funny story - one I've told before (I think).  We had an old push mower (no self propelled wheels back in my day), and a BIG BACK YARD.  We sure loved that big back yard when it was time to water (flood irrigate), but NOT when it was time to mow.  I remember being mad, not wanting to mow one day, and as I was mowing around, I carved a big "H" in the middle.  "H" for Hell (swear word).  Then when all of the lawn was mowed except for the "H", I mowed it too !  I don't think I ever went and got Mom or Dad and showed them my "rebellion" - haha !!  I just mowed it up, and being "creative" while I mowed, helped ease the pain and boredom of the mowing I guess.........  such a kid !!

Memories - boy this took me back !!

Who would have even thought that feet measuring would go by the wayside?

When I was little, you would go to a shoe store, and they always had someone to get  your shoes out of a box (or in the back).  You would point to the shoe you wanted (on display), and then sit down, and a store employee would have you take off your shoes, stand up in your stocks, and step on the metal measuring device (see below), to check your size, then they would find your shoes, and sit down in front of you on the special stool (with a place for your foot), and with a shoe "horn", help you put the shoes on, lacing them up if needed.  Boy times have sure changed !!!

Happy 4th birthday - Bexlee

Our Bexlee turned 4 years old yesterday.  Isn't she beautiful ?
We took this picture a few days ago with Grandma Ben and Bentley.
Bexlee has a beautiful smile, she's mischievous, and loves to give hugs.  You can feel her strength when she wraps her arms around you.  Bexlee loves preschool, and is a sweet sister "mama" to the new baby.
Happy Birthday Bex - WE LOVE YOU !!

Memories - gum wrapper chains

I learned to make these at 4-H camp when I was a girl - this and "boondoggle".  Boy seeing this picture brings back memories.  I should teach Brightyn how to do this, she would like it I think.  Nowadays, alot of the gum doesn't come in the wrapped sticks, so it would be harder.  I remember Juicy Fruit was probably the most common, and the green spearmint, and Beechmans? was black I think.  Those were the days.

One of my Favorite memories

I would love to go for rides with my family, usually the long ones were up over the Mirror Lake highway.  There were no electronics, just conversation in the car, and looking out the window, and best of all THE FOOD.  Mom would buy a loaf of bread, and a package of sliced baloney from Doyle's, and we'd stop in Kamas and get some curd cheese at a store.  She had an old red and white Coleman cooler, and a red and white Coleman water jug.   This memory always makes me smile :)

Memories - King

I used to have a horse like this one.  His name was KING.  I sure loved to ride him, and could make him buck SO HIGH.  King was used through all of my siblings, and some of my kids before he went on down the dusty trail :)
