Lava is Fun - Floating the River

I'm almost caught up !  This happened 2 weeks ago today.  We were invited to go up to "Lava" to Jim and Shirlee's cabin with the kids for a day of fun.  We left at 6am, and when we arrived at 8:30am, Shirlee had breakfast already for us !  It was yummy :)
CJ and Tagg
Relaxin'
After breakfast we headed out for a Ranger Ride up the mountain.
The hills were ablaze with so many beautiful wild flowers.  Notice the Indian paintbrush in my hair !
In the afternoon, we went down into the town of Lava to float the Portneuf River which lazily flows through the town.   Click here for a fun video !  They even got Roger D. in on the action.
Back to the cabin for tin-foil dinner supper.
And of course, s'mores and biscuits........
a little target shooting.......
Biscuits filled with cherry filling and whipped cream.
It was a great day, and we left for home about 8pm.
It was a long fun happy day with family.

Odds and Ends - January

Tagg and Treyson and Zac are doing chores for the Nolds.  Whoever can do it, goes, and sometimes Roger D. helps out.  Here they go, up the hill to get the horses hay.
Roger is find this Winter pretty boring.  No snow, no pushing.......  It would be nice if he could find something to occupy his time.  The days are long.  He doesn't sit down like this until evening.  He must have had a hard day the day I took this picture, he's sound asleep.
Bright sent me this SELFIE from her IPOD.  It's fun to text back and forth with the "littles"
Tiana had a birthday.  Here she is with Lizzy and Ashley.  She's still in Utah, not sure when she'll be headed back to New York.  She's still teaching virtually.
This is so me !  Roger's cousin Val always posts such funny things on FB.  I always get a chuckle :)
Landon is stepping it up at Crossfit.  I think he told me he's lost 30 pounds in the last 6 months.
Here is my new office.  It's in the back room, that we haven't used before.  Janell helped me get it all fixed up.  She's a decorator - I'm not.  We were able to hire a new employee, so we made room out in the main office, and I moved to the back room.  It's been nicer than I thought it would.  I'm enjoying the ability to get things without interruptions.
Bright dressed up for 100 days of school...........and a 100 year old woman (haha).  This is something all first graders do.  I should see if I can find pictures of all my grandkids over the years. :)
Can't remember if I showed this before, but Treyson has a new look in his room.  Zac and Roger put up the slat boards, and also crown molding.  Then light (that turn colors) behind the crown molding.  He's got all of his guitars hung up (you can't see most of them in this picture).  Also, to the left is the MURPHY bed that Zac built from a kit.  He's getting pretty handy at that.  This is his second one.  It's nice to be able to close it up during the day for more room.
Here's a left over picture from Christmas.  Grandma Shirlee got "jammies" for Santa and all his reindeer.
Also, she made these awesome levi quilts for the boys.
Landon also participated in a fundraiser for a fellow crossfitter with cancer.  Everyone put dollars in each of the coaches bottles, and at the end of the fundraiser, they met on a Saturday and each coach had to do as many burpees, and there were dollars in their jar.............Landon must have been pretty popular, because he had over 1000 dollars in his jar - the most of any coach. YIKES !!!
Also, another surprise as the Rich Ranch in West Haven.  Apparently the two bunnies were NOT the same sex..........and so it was a surprise when they discovered baby bunnies !!!
These are some of Tagg's creations in ART - he is quite the artist.

Now I think I'm all caught up.......at least for now.  By the time you see this, I'll probably have MORE to report.

Fun time with Family

Zac and CJ and family invited us to go with them to Jim and Shirlee's cabin near Lava Hot Springs.  Zac need to finish up some plumbing, and they were going to cut some wood, and go for a ranger ride.  We said, "Sure"!
We left about 5:30 am, and got there about 8:30 - it was kind of chilly, but pretty.
They had the fire going, and we warmed right up.  Jim and Shirlee sure have a nice little cabin there.  It was so peaceful and relaxing.
Finishing up some plumbing
Cutting and collecting firewood
Then we piled in the Rangers and rode up to Sedgwick Peak.
Here is some info:  Sedgwick Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of (9,156ft) above the sea level, located in Bannock County, in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Idaho. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Idaho.

The road to the summit, located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. It’s called Road W. The road is usually impassable in winters. Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. The road has some steep sections and is very rocky in places and good tires and good brakes (for the descent) are crucial.

4x4 required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Wet conditions may make for tough driving along the muddy road. At the summit there are a couple of communication towers. .

You can't see it from this picture, but looking south you could see the entire Cache Valley, from Preston to Logan, to Wellsville.
This is looking East, towards, Grace, Idaho, and Soda Springs.  I thought maybe we could see the Tetons in the distance, but they were too far away.
Me and Roger D.
We had a great, relaxing time.  Thanks so much for the invite :)

If you can't see the video - click here. The boys took their motorcycles, and had a great time on the roads.  The cabin is located on the Thunder Mountain Land Owners Association property, and the roads, while gravel, are very nice.  The land where we went on the Ranger Ride is owned by the State of Idaho, and is very rocky.
