Odds and Ends

Cleaning out the Welch Ditch Dam in a daily occurrence.

Playing in the barn......... so glad our grandkids have this opportunity.  This was one of the great things I remember about my childhood, and the barns at my grandparents.

LET THERE BE LIGHT !!! - New lights in the garage, Yahoo !!

We got the grain drill SOLD to a man who came all the way from Mt. Pleasant.  Thanks to Zac we got it loaded with no problems.  That old tractor picked it up like a champ :)

It was fun to watch Landon teach Payson how to climb up on the tractor.  More fun memories (Landon remembering.........and Payson experiencing for the first time).

We are hopeful that the hard frost we received on June 9th will be THE LAST ONE for the season.  It is sure a pain to cover everything up, and take it off, and fold it up and put it away. Such is the life of a gardener I guess.

Another Honey DO  - DONE !!
Roger made these awesome stairs out of the $15 worth of Trex I got off of Morgan Classifieds.   As usual, I'm sorry I didn't get a BEFORE picture of the old rickety cinderblocks that we have been teetering on for the past 6-7 years.

And last but not least, Thatcher was able to help out The Yard Master for a day, while Tagg was off for major dental work on his front teeth that he broke in December 2016 when he fell off the 12' wall at Scouts.   Thatch blew off all the sidewalks at River Cove, and was a great help.

Power out !

Early Sunday morning about 3am - a neighbor called the fire department about a pole fire.  I guess they came and took care of the fire.........we didn't hear a thing.  When we awoke about 7am, to no power, we realized what had happened.
They worked on it all morning, and into the afternoon, in and out of rainstorms, thunder, and lightening and hail.  This is the truck that SUCKS out the dirt and rocks where they will place the new pole.
Pole going into place amidst the rain
They finally got everything wired back up and the power went back on about 1:45 pm.  We need to get a generator for my fridge and freezer.

More Goats !! Visitors Galore :) We love it.

Saturday night during the RAIN STORM - France had her babies.  We named them Brooks and Dunn, two little boys.  One (the bigger one) is white with black markings.  The smaller one is a beautiful little brown and white buck, with black markings.  Trying to bottle feed these two has been alot harder than Sonny and Cher, that's for sure.  They just haven't taken to the bottle as well.  However, today at noon, I put the bottles in the feeder, and Voila !  They both did really well, so hopefully we are over THAT hump.
Landon and Kacey and kids came up Sunday afternoon for the 4 o'clock feeding.
THIS GIRL - Loves her animals.
And Pays has such a CUTE haircut, courtesy of his mom - SO HANDSOME !!!
Erika and family also came to check out the new babies.
Ashley, Colton, Erika, Brian, Elizabeth, and Aaron
(Mama - France is a little nervous - in front)
So happy to share our babies with the family.

Other Misc. "stuff"

Beautiful morning sunrise - This world is so beautiful.  We need to take the time to notice.

I've been working on getting these old window frames painted so I can get them hung in our home.  It's a process !!

Hopefully we have our old grain drill sold.  We had to do a test run to see if the tractor could pick it up.  The guy is coming from Mt. Pleasant, to trailer it home.

Tagg is in 7th heaven.  They are at Wilkinson Supply, checking out new lawnmowers.

I had an "In front of the" Garage sale.  It went okay - didn't make alot of money, but got rid of alot of "stuff"  I'm in the purge mode, that's for sure.

Finally got my HOME sign hung.  LOVE IT.

I'm liking my WHITE BOARD - I change up the quote quite often.

After that wind (two Saturday's ago) - Landon came home to find the batting cage on top of the trampoline !!  Crazy microburst.  Roger said the same microburst crashed (minor) a small plane at the Ogden airport also.

The kids had fun selling lemonade a few days ago (before the rain and colder weather) - they did pretty good !  Made almost $40 !!  Isn't this a rite of childhood passage?  Haven't we all sold lemonade from a road-side stand when we were kids?

Grandma Ben had some surprise visitors on Sunday.  Sommer and Chris Holst stopped by unexpectedly on their way home from Vernal.  Such cute boys - wish we knew them better !  It's hard when family is far away (Idaho Falls).

It's Baby Goat time !!

Azula had twins on June 1st.  One boy.........One girl..........(two hearts beating wildly.........to put is mildly it was love at first sight........Ah, Collin Raye........ but I digress...........)  They appear to be healthy, and other than the Hershey squirts (that hardened into rock solid pieces and had to be removed in the utility sink under warm water by yours truly) everything is going okay.  We took them from Azula on June 3rd, and proceeded to bottle feed.

Roger got the enclosure all ready for them.

After one day of holding them and the bottle in our arms, they turned into PROS !!

Meet Sonny and Cher

Paris and France should not be too far behind (with new babies).

Finishing up the garage

Two years ago, while we were in the midst of doing the update on our house, I picked up this weight set.  It has set in the shop (much to Zac's dismay) until now.  Roger and I, with little instruction and a few pictures (taken by previous owner) were able to get it put together !  It now sits proudly in the corner of the garage, and will hopefully get used !!
I took this panoramic picture of the finished garage.   I am so pleased.  Hopefully we'll get the new windows soon, and it will be a wrap :)

New / Old Garage

This is our old garage - Steve Wiggill built it for Uncle Don in the mid 1970's.  We kept it and hooked it on to our newly built home in 1993.  The sheet rock was never attached properly to the breezeway side, after attachment,  and had began to sag over the years.
See that bench at the front?  Steve made that out of scrap wood off of Uncle Don's old back porch (if I remember correctly).  We salvaged that, and gave it away. Cupboards (brown) from Mom and Dad's old house - gave away.
I had been nagging for quite awhile, and finally!  It paid off.  See also where the central vac was hooked up?  No sheet rock there either (for years)............   They cut and replaced all of the sheet rock.
Meanwhile my breezeway was loaded up with "stuff".  A lot of the "stuff" we moved over to the shop, and junked some, and sold some.
Hard at work - almost done with the sheet rock. Tagg had come over with Zac, and he was a pretty patient boy, I'll tell you what !
Next day - Painter Man aka Zac arrived.
I was not worried about the taping of the sheet rock - I just wanted to get it painted and get it done.  Zac and CJ had about 10 gallons of left over paint (not primer), and he went to town.

A couple of hours later.............DONE !!
New windows are ordered, and they will come in a couple of weeks.  The old ones had moisture inside of them, and you couldn't see through them very good.

Fixing/Moving the Pump

The pump to water the lawns at the Property kept losing it's prime......... so we moved it closer to the wet well.
The box had to be dug out, pipes cut and realigned, and electrical line re-routed.  In the process we discovered a leak, so that is probably why it was losing it's prime.
Down at the south end of the Property by the wet well, is where Zac's pump in located.  So Roger D proceeded to dig another hole so we could re-locate the pump.
They had to dig out a ways,  to find the pipe, then fish the electrical wire down the pipe.  Zac had some FISH TAPE - isn't that funny?!  Fish Tape - to fish tape...........get it?   It worked beautifully, and it was so good they didn't have to dig up the ground all the way.
Cut apart the original box, and modify to fit the other pump.

For now, we've just set the old box (that we tore out) lid on the extended box (holding the relocated pump)  A new lid needs to be built, and I was able to get some grey trex material that I'm hoping will work (after Zac builds me some steps to my chicken coop - hint hint).  Another idea we are throwing around, is getting an old used 8 x 12 shed, and placing it over all 3 pumps (dads, the property's and Zac's) and the wet well, and calling it a "Pump House".  But that's a project for another day.
