Tomato Time

Well, the weekend after our Arizona gang left, we were busy again!  I picked up 5 bushels of tomatoes from Guy Rose in South Weber.
We went to town, and made tomato juice (55 quarts), Salsa (42 pints), and Pizza Sauce (21 pints), plus had a few left over to eat.

I should also say, that I didn't have to buy any onions or peppers - we grew them all in the garden, so that's a big PLUS !!
Salsa bubbling away - we made two batches
Such a lovely sight to see :)
Now corn is on, and we've been eating it every night for supper.  In the next week or so, it will come on HARD, and we'll have processing/freezing to do.

Remember this video from last year?

And that's a wrap............. (trying to get back in the groove)

Well, our Arizona girl is back in AZ.  She left on Sunday the 18th.  It was a whirlwind great time here with her, and we always enjoy our time together.  It is hard to keep the blog updated though :)   I find myself getting further and further behind........Summer........House building........Working......Playing...... Life in general.........Crazy times !!!

Friday, Grandma Ben took us to The Oaks in Ogden Canyon for lunch.  It was a good meal, and even better to spend the time with her.  We sure love her !
Then I took Camryn and Treyson to see the new movie - a remake of Ghostbusters.
Meanwhile at the house - The sheetrockers FINALLY got started on Friday (and finished up on Monday)
The kids get drug over there daily, and either bring something to play with (electronics), or play around the house/outside.  They are really pretty good sports about it all.
The WRONG front door..........
Always seems like it is something.
The soffit/fascia work continues..........
There is usually an audience :)
*wish I could squat that good !
No words :)
Zac is up - Roger D is down (the cutter), and Tagg is usually the go between.
These kids..........
The morning routine.....
She is definitely like her mom, and NOT her Grandma.
Dickson Reunion on Saturday the 16th
Siblings
Lee (Dad), Norris, Maisie, Barbara, Dixie
Cam with her Bettinson Cousins
Lance, Colton, Tiana, Camryn
They (all of the Bettinson's) are so so good to my grandkids.
I love them dearly
More soffit......
And there's a smile?
Must be the shade (haha)
Actually, if I remember the conversation correctly, he was giving his dad (Roger D) a bad time about not cutting the metal just right.......
Relaxing at the Property, down by the ditch.
The peas are ON !!
YEAH! !!!
Monday I headed back to work, and who should visit me there?
This rowdy crew :)
And here we are on Wednesday night.  The soffit/fascia is almost done.  Thank goodness.  Now on to the next project....
On a side note - the tapers showed up Wednesday, and got the first coat on, and also Roland Haslam started on the road.
Tomatoes are turning !
Tagg's tomatoes are not looking the best.  Not sure what is wrong.  We water them faithfully, but the bottoms are brown, which means a calcium deficiency I think (we are working on fixing that), and the one plant just seems to be drying up.  The Roma tomatoes are very small, not sure if that is the variety, or what.......
Brown bottoms - calcium deficiency
Pretty proud of this Gardner
And finally - love from Lucky

After the operation - our weekend - Father's Day

Rog came out of surgery at 4:30 pm on Thursday the 16th.  This is Saturday morning at 10:30 am.  36 hours post surgery.
He keeps saying - "This is awesome - I'm not in pain any more !"

We watched the kids for a few hours Saturday afternoon.  Landon was taking a test at Weber, Kacey was cleaning, and Zac and CJ had to run to Ogden to get electrical supplies.
These two boys are quite the characters.
What would you caption this picture??
They gathered the eggs, and I was afraid we would have some broken ones, but they did GOOD !!
Miss Brightyn loves lotion
AND AVOCADOS !!
Sunday morning we went up and got Grandma Ben, and took her up to the cemetery with us to put flowers on Grandpa Ben's grave for Father's Day.
Tagg went with us, and wrote on the little "blackboard" a Happy Father's Day note to Grandpa Ben.  The purple flower arrangement is what we took from our own flower garden.  It was three different kinds of purple flowers, and they were beautiful !.
Then Tagg wanted to visit his Grandpa Chris Matthews' Grave.  I had to call CJ, but we finally found it.

Notes from the boys to Zac for Father's Day.
Sunday afternoon at the Property.
Playing in the sand.
They made me a bunch of "cakes" to eat.
Kacey and Landon
Roger D. didn't miss a beat, and was the cooker as usual.  He's a stylin' in his TED HOSE, and shorts :)
The shirt he got for Father's day from Zac and CJ and family said, "Great Dads get promoted to Grandpa"
Here are all the DADS at our Father's Day Party.
Aaron, Landon, Grandpa D, Mark
Zac, Roger D.
We went up to Zac and CJ's house and showed it off to the Bettinson Bunch.
Thatcher, Colton, Tagg, Treyson, Lance
"Congrats to Lance who just graduated from Stanford!!"
Lovin' the rock pile :)
We have some small tomatoes growing.
These are the ones that Tagg planted from seed in Scouts, way back in March.
The boys, helping out their dad.
This house project has been fun !

Happenings at our House

We have the tomato GROW BOX out, and ready to go for this year.
My front flower bed looks pretty good since I cleaned it up last fall.  The tulips have POPPED more than they are in this picture, and they are just beautiful.  Those pesky little purple hyacinths though........I wish I had never planted them, and that other plant that completely takes over....

Tagg's Scout Potato project such worked good.  He took this bad boy over and planted it in Grandpa D's garden.   I'll have to keep you updated on how it turns out.
Manda sent Camryn's latest school project.  Which was AMAZING !!
This is the picture we took to text back to Cam.  We are sure proud of the good work she is doing.
Another scout project, hanging on our fridge.  A good reminder for us all !
I went down and watched Payson and Brightyn last Friday? morning.  Oh what fun that was.  They are both quite the characters.  Here Payson is making his SCARY face !
Brightyn's SCARY face - haha
And Smiles.............
More Smiles............
Such crazy kids.
A few days later we got Tagg's SCOUT tomatoes in the grow box (not seen here). It was SO WINDY, and we didn't think they were going to make it.  A day later though, and they looked fine.
All bundled up (the tomato plants), with our MINI MASTER Gardener.  I think he's going to take after Grandpa D.
Random Random pic - but it show how great of PICKER UPPERS Payson and Brightyn are.  This was Sunday night.  We had the whole family there visiting for a hour, and it was THE BEST.  I love it when this happens, and it doesn't happen often enough.  I love our family so much.
Crazy weather !!  A hail storm rolled through one day this past week during my lunch hour.  Only on one side of the tramp, because the wind was blowing so much.  This was the lunch hour that I about got hit HEAD ON at the "Y".  I was stopped, and a car coming from Milton turned, and didn't see me.  Was coming straight for me, going really fast (a young male was driving).  I screamed, threw up my hands, and braced for impact, and he did a mighty jerk on the steering wheel at the last minute, and swerved around me.  He couldn't have missed the front end of my car by less than a foot.  I just sat there after it was over, I was shaking so bad.  I didn't have my seat belt on......stupid me.  I would have been hurt for sure, unless my air bag could have saved me.    I need to be better at that.
Manda's home with a newly trimmed tree in her front yard.  Beautiful !!
I screen shot Cam's Instagram posts.
Here are a few.
Miss her !!
