Thanksgiving Dinner

We had a great dinner at Grandpa and Grandma Ben's at 1pm.  Joni and Kerry and Chans were there, along with Zac and CJ's family.  It was great to get together in a small group.  We haven't laughed and talked with Joni and Kerry like that for a long time.  We enjoyed it so much.
Later we went down to mom and dad's for Pie and Slush.  My mom always makes two kinds of Pumpkin Pie.  The Dickson kind, and the Tonks kind.  90% of us like the Dickson kind, which is creamy, and pre-cooked in a pan and then dumped into pre-cooked pie shells.  The Tonks kind is cooked IN the shell, and is firmer and is enjoyed by 10% of the weirdos :)
Tagg and Treyson LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dickson Pie
Slush is always a BIG hit too, along with the yummy cheese balls that Aaron and Erika always make.  It's great to be around family. Thanksgiving is special.

End of an Era Part 2

Couldn't let this image pass !  This was on Fox News and USA Today apparently.  I never saw the original posting, but was able to find it when I googled "Hostess closing 2012 Utah images".  There's Roger D, with his back to the camera, cute little hair netted head, and of course - his PHONE TO HIS EAR.  This is what he did, 99.9% of the day, on the phone putting out fires.  Yesterday we were driving, and his phone BUZZED on his hip, and he immediately reached for it.  It was one of the kids.  After he said, "It's going to be strange, without wondering what problem someone is calling about".  That is ONE of the upsides to this whole thing.  We with both look forward to the PEACE AND QUIET :)

The End of an Era

Well, we've been expecting this for some time, and today we got the word.  The business Roger has worked for the past 32 years is closing.  It is a relief to know for sure, and possibly it will be a blessing in disguise.  We will hope and pray that Rog can find a new job, hopefully with less stress.  Thanks everyone, for your concern !  Everything will work out.

Odds and Ends

Our newest addition - Billy, a Nubian goat acquired from Lindsey and Moroni Wardell and girls.  He is completely different in looks than our other two goats, Sam and Beauty.
Rog, the goat whisperer
Best Halloween Maze EVER !!  The boys LOVED it.  Glad we went through it on the night before Halloween.  I heard they had over 900 kids on Halloween night !
Happy Fall from the Rich's !
I met the neatest people up the road from me.  Jack Harris and Jean Nebeker.  I was able to take their picture for a ward talent night slide show.  I look forward to getting to know them better.  Wonderful people !
On his way to wrestling practice.  Go Treyson !
Does this boy look TOUGH or WHAT !?!?!
Our little barnyard.  3 Goats, 1 pot bellied pig, 5 chickens, and 1 rooster - oh, and I forgot the black rabbit :)
We chased down the fire engines the other day.  Pretty exciting times in little old Morgan County.
If you take a trip to Morgan Drug, you might get helped by this new employee.  Yea CJ, Morgan Drug's newest pharmacy tech.  She loves it - they love her - life is good :)
Zac's wall of medals.  He's getting quite the collection.

Great Weekend

We were ready to head south to St. George with the boys (Zac and Landon), the wives (CJ and Kacey) and the babies (Payson and Thatcher).  Along the way, plans changed, Payson stayed home with Grandma Carol, and we picked up two tag alongs........Grandpa and Grandma Rich !
We arrived in St. George on Friday evening, and after picking up race packets at the Dixie Center, we dined at the Outback before heading to Mesquite and Shirlee's condo !  Other than a 20 minute cry fest in traffic/construction mess in the Virgin River Gorge, Thatcher was a complete angel.
These two surprised everyone, including themselves, when they each placed 2nd in their respective gender/age categories in the Snow Canyon 5K on Saturday morning.  Way to go Kacey and Landon !!
Zac had a PR (personal record) in the half marathon he completed.  CJ completed the 5K also, without any training !!  She's paying for it now, but she STILL beat me by almost 10 minutes.
Thatch was SUCH a good baby.  He is a sweetheart :)
Here I am right before the race - I'm nervous.  I actually hadn't planned on running, but decided to at the last minute.
It took me about 45 minutes to do the 5K (3.? miles) , which isn't that great, but it was fun, and I hope to do better next time.  I'm going to have to put a list of my races on my "sidebar" like my friend Teresa.  Zac and Landon and the girls were so encouraging, and happy to have me run with them.  Who knows, maybe I will one day do a 1/2 marathon.  A FULL MARATHON seems way too much to dream for.

FYI - Zac and Landon signed up for the St. George Race Series, which guarantees them a spot in the St. George Marathon next year (October 2013).  They have to complete at least two races (in the series), this was the first one, and we'll head down again in January for the 2nd one.  That's when I'll run my next 5K.  Better step up the training !!
