State Wrestles !

It's over for the year, and I can say that I'm a little relieved.  I love wrestling, but it sure is a gut wrencher for everyone.  So glad for family support. 

Treyson even took off work for 2 days to come a support Tagg.  He was able to share words of encouragement and love after Tagg experienced a hard loss in the semi-finals.  Love to see the way they are there for each other. 

We talked Grandma Ben into coming down with us both days, and we are sure glad she did, and so was she !! 

This win over a Canyon View kid that had beat him previously at the Millard Duels in December was so so SWEET !!  This win, secured him a medal for sure !!

I think even Tagg was a little bit surprised :) 

He always listens to Grandpa's advice.

Morgan secured the 2nd place trophy once again, after getting beat last year by South Summit.  There is no touching Juab High School, which took first. 

This is one of my favorite quotes, and I think it applies to wrestling so well.  It takes GUTS to get out there on the mat.  JUST YOU..............   I don't know how they do it.  So proud of all of them.

Divisionals are over - whew !!!

I guess you get grumpier as you get older.................

Tagg and Wrestling

Alot has happened since The Rumble.  Tagg has been sick on and office since mid-December, and after The Rumble they took him to the doctor, and he had mono, and his spleen was swollen to twice the size it should be.  He sat out for a week of wrestling, including the Morgan Takedown Tournament, and struggled with his Juab and South Summit matches this past week.  He wrestles 190 pounds, and is barely topping the scale at 179. Tagg heads to Divisionals on Friday at Nephi, where he hopes to place in the top 8 so that he can go on to State mid February.  We have our fingers crossed that he will be able to wrestle his best, and receive no injury.  

 

The Rumble

Tagg competed in one of the biggest wrestling tournaments in the State this past weekend.

There were 39 wrestlers in his 190 pound bracket.

Zac and Roger love to offer advice, and Tagg takes it very well. 

None of our Varsity wrestlers placed at this tournament, but Tagg wrestled SIX matches over two days, and won FOUR of his matches.
Tagg would have come in either 9, 10, 11, or 12th place out of  39 wrestlers.
We are very proud of his effort and hard work !

Ironman Duels in Fillmore

Tagg went 6 wins and 3 losses at the Ironman tournament.
The first day he was down with 2 wins and 3 losses.  He had been sick all week, and still wasn't feeling the best. The second day he came back with a vengeance, and won all 4 ! 
9 matches in two days gives a lot of mat time, which is good.

Day before Thanksgiving is always fun ! 
They had a good breakfast, but didn't hike to the "M" because of the snow.  They went up around the cemetery, and the older wrestlers were paired with the little league wrestlers, to get to know them better.  Such a great idea ! 

Thatcher got thumped on at the Weber tournament, but he's a trooper !

Wrestling starts !

Thatcher competed in the Will Pentz Memorial Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, November 9th.  It's going to be an exciting year !  We are really looking forward to it.

State Wrestles !! - Wrestling season is over !

Well, wrestling is over once again for the season.  It was great, but it's great to be done also !  Here is a picture of all of the boys who are brothers on the team. 

Gabe and Lance Toone, Kwade and Carter Meibos, Tagg and Treyson Rich, and Tavin and Chase Allen.

Here's our group of cheerleaders for Treyson.  We were so sorry that Thatcher was sick and couldn't come and support :( 

Treyson ended up 4th in State.  We were so proud. 

Tagg was a great support to Treyson, even though he didn't get to wrestle at state.  Next Year Tagg !!

I don't think I ever wrote a about Tagg's Sophomore Year in detail.  Here it is. 

The whole wrestling season, Tagg battled for a spot at 175.  Up and down, in and out, win and lose....  Krew Galbraith (Junior) came back from sickness after a month of being out at the beginning, and he secured the Varsity spot.  Lance Toone (senior) and Tagg battled for the Junior Varsity spot every week. They were back and forth, but unfortunately at the end, he didn't come out on top, and wasn't able to secure a spot for Divisionals.  That meant he couldn't wrestle at State either.  It sure was a disappointment for him, but he was glad to go and support Treyson, he's always there for him.  

Here are some highlights of Tagg's Sophomore Year - he did awesome !  

Divisionals

We headed down to Castledale (Emery High School) on Friday the 2nd with Thatcher.  Zac and CJ would come the next day.  

Thatch has a great time hanging with friends.  They all have brothers on the wrestling team. 

After the wrestles, they all got together in the hotel pool and had a grand time.

Tagg is always there for Treyson.  It is great to see them support each other.
