Sunday - I'm loving life.

I slept in till almost 8 am this morning !  I told Roger, "I don't know what is worse.......... not being able to sleep or get a good night's sleep - or sleeping for so long that my back hurts!".  I walked from my house to mom's. I listened to Neal Maxwell's talk (For about the 12th time) again.  I love it so much.  Then came home and have fixed Mountain Dew Chicken  (it's in the oven).  We are meeting at the Property at 2pm for a family get together.  I'm so looking forward to this.  I'm so glad/happy/proud that we were able to can 80 quarts of tomato juice yesterday, and we'll plan to do salsa this coming week.   I love my life, and I love Roger, and my kids and grand kids.  They are all so special, and each their own person.  We are so blessed to be parents and grand parents.  I'm grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I love the Lord, and my Savior.  Life is so so Good.

Back to School - Fall 2020

Payson - gotta love this kid.  He wants to be a salesman?!?!
His dad said specifically a CAR salesman, HAHA !

Bright - doesn't surprise me at all that she wants to be a VET.  This girl LOVES LOVES LOVES animals.

Thatcher's in 3rd grade also, and has decided he likes LEVIS/WRANGLERS this year :)

Treyson and Tagg - 9th and 7th grade.  Treyson is loving HIGH SCHOOL, and Tagg  is enjoying being back to school after being off for SO LONG (MARCH !)

Cam is a Junior, and they are NOT back to "real" school yet in Chandler AZ.  She has online classes, where they meet together in a ZOOM -like classroom.  She's doing well, and has started a NEW JOB that is keeping her busy after school and evenings.

Cathedral of the Pines

Last minute, "Want to go for a Ranger Ride"? - of course we said YES :)
Wow - they all look super excited, right?   I just don't think I said "smile", haha.

We are headed to the Cathedrals, or "The Cathedral of the Pines" - it's right there just right of the middle.  It's the smaller mountain with the white bald spot on top.  You would think that behind the mountains in the back is Bountiful, right?  Wrong.  That large mountain (to the left) is Gold Ridge, and if you go over it, you are actually in a "valley", with another mountain behind it.

We are getting closer. Wish I could "draw" on this picture to show you just where we were headed.  If you look to the right, you can still see the thin line of white on top of the small ridge.  Just below that thin line is four distinct pine trees.

The trail was extremely rocky, but not too scary.  I didn't scream once :)

At one point we parked, and headed up the trail on foot, just to make sure that it was passable.

Thatcher with his wranglers and boots - ready for school, going "cowboy style aka Grandpa Roger style" this year.

Looking North - you can see the backside of the Hogsback, with Francis Peak in the far distance.

\

See that big rock in the back ground?   More on that in a minute.

Another view of the back of the Hogsback, with Durst mountain in the background to the far right.

We made it - we are on top of the bald ridge at the Cathedral of the Pines.  I wondered if I would ever get here again.  We used to always come every year once or twice on snowmobiles, and once quite a few years back we came on four wheelers, and brought mom and dad (I need to check to see just when that was).  This is also where my Grandpa Reed and Dad and all the Uncles used to come deer hunting.  You can access if from the Richville Range, or through Hardscrabble.  It is actually on property owned by the US Government.  I can vaguely remember coming on one of those hunting expeditions when I was a very little girl, probably under 5 years old.  I remember piling on big trucks and wagons, and treking out through the hills in back of Grandpa's house, and I remember around the campfire, and smoke blowing in my face, and all the adults laughing.   In the very background of this picture, you can see a Morgan City, although with the poor air quality, you can't see it very well in this picture.  It's between Zac's and Roger's heads.

CJ fixed some sandwiches to eat.

Look West from the bald ridge - you can see why they call it the Cathedral of the Pines

Remember that Rock I told you about earlier?  IT IS HUGE !!!
CLOSE UP

PUSH !!!

Wouldn't it be scary if it moved ??

It was hot and dusty and bumpy (resulting in needing to clean the Ranger) - but totally worth it.

Football coming out our ears.........

Treyson is playing on the Freshman team.  He is a linebacker (go figure), #74.   They play on Thursday nights.  Their first game was last Thursday at Trojan Field.

Of course he had some fans :)

The game was supposed to start at 5:30, but didn't get started until almost 6.........then it went so long !!!  They finally had to turn the lights on, and we didn't get home till almost 9pm. Crazy.  Unfortunately they lost 50 something to 29.

Treyson was all smiles, and had a good time.

Saturday morning, up bright and early for an 8:30 am game in South Ogden for Tagg's team.  This year he has a different coach, and it is working out really well.

There he is - Number 44, center.   He is hiking the ball to the quarterback.  He did a great job.

After the game, they gave out an award to a player - and guess who got it?

Taggerino !!  It was sure a morale booster, which is just what this kid needs.

Later Saturday afternoon we all met at Roy High School for Thatcher's game.
They play 8 on 8, and only use half the field

We were glad to have the shade, because it was HOT !

Don't know which kid he is - but he's out there !  I told CJ she needs to get him some bright fluorescent socks, so we can keep track of him.

Third boy - all smiles.  This is going to be FUN !

Good Job everyone !!  Love you all.

How does our garden grow?

Some of the corn stalk are 7 feet tall now, and we've got corn coming on like crazy.  It has been so yummy to have some every night for dinner.

We are still watering twice a week.

Here's our early morning watering last Friday.  Take a look at that sun, all muted by the smoky skies blowing in from California.

The pumpkins (most of them) are turning orange, and doing so well.
We are going to have an awesome HARVEST party here in about a month or so.  I can hardly wait.   We have all of the grandkids come up, and the vines have been touched by the frost, and we cut the squash and pumpkins off, and load them in the trailer, and then we gather in the shop for rolls and chicken noodle soup.  It is a highlight for me. I hope it is for them.

The cabbages are growing so big.  Dad cut two smaller ones last night.  The bigger ones are bigger than basketballs !!

Cucumbers are doing well, and keeping me fed.  I gather them about once a week, and slice them all up in to my favorite cucumber salad.  There are three different varieties here.

If these ROMA tomatoes ever ripen, we will be in TOMATO HEAVEN.  Some of the other tomatoes have started to turn, and I am eating tons of tomatoes every day.

Look at this fun pump'KEMON - That's the variety (KEMON) So fun, we've never had ones like this before.

I've planted Ghost pumpkins for the past 3 years, and this is the only year they have grown.  I have TWO big ones, all white !!

This is a CINDERELLA'S CARRIAGE pumpkin.  So fun.

This is a BIG MAC - and it has even grown more since I took this picture.  They sure get huge, but they lay on their side, and are kind of misshapen.

The BLUE HUBBARDS are HUGE - I bet they are 30+ pounds each.

I should have a before (May) picture and now this - it's amazing how they grow and grow and take over.

These cute little pumpkins are about the size of a big softball - there are only about 6 on the vine, but they will be so fun for the little girls.

Then we have the Jack -be- Littles, which in the past have been bright orange, but this year they are all white !!

These few Zinnias make me sad.  If it hadn't have frozen, we would have a WHOLE ROW peaking out from behind the variegated iris.

I PICKED A POUND (not a PECK) of (banana) PEPPERS.......which I then PICKLED !!!
