Happenings at the Rich Ranch :)

The other night we were able to go down and watch Landon play softball with the Focus team.  Payson had a great time watching, and always making sure he ran over to the easily accessible dugout to say "Hi Dad" !

We are sure enjoying our ducks !   They are so noisy and funny, and they love their pool.

My pot of "Hunny" at the end of the rainbow :)

Today I took the kids down to the creek.  The ditch has become too tame for them, but they love to walk up and down the creek.  Treyson especially.   This view is looking North towards Morgan.

The lighting was beautiful.  Shade Sun Shade Sun.  They decided to try walking South towards the Welch Ditch diversion dam.

Thatch was pretty content to sit by me on the bank and throw rocks............

and "fish" with a stick in the water, getting me wet in the process.

He loved dunking his head the water.

The funniest part of this video is listening to Tagg's chuckles as he films us :)

These two are quite the characters.  They get along most of the time thank goodness.

Thatch was all worn out, and fell asleep in Grandpa's chair when we got back home.

Later he woke up, and showed Grandpa his belly button

Of course we did the barnyard thing :)

Notice Treyson trying to dip his foot in the pool, without attracting the turkey's attention.  I don't know why those boys are so nervous around the turkeys..........CJ?..............they have never been attacked.  I guess there is always a first time, and we should be cautious.

Living the Dream............

Daddy's Home

A little BRIBERY never hurt :)

The boys were sure excited to have Landon home for a visit
After dinner, we all went out to the barnyard to do chores and check out the animals.

Turkey Lurkey

Payson rode Shady for the first time.  He didn't quite know what to think.

Thatcher put on the glove and tried to pet the turkeys........he has no fear.

I think we have a nail biter - much to his mother's dismay :(

Wanna go for a ride Grandpa?

And last but not least !

Payson announced THIS news !!
On or about January 14th we will be grandparents once again  :)

Did you hear the one about the Farmer?

Has anyone heard me WONDERING where our WHITE chicken was laying her eggs lately?

Let me tell you a story.............  When we got our mini-horse about a month ago, we moved things around and disrupted our chickens usual laying spots.  All of a sudden, we had hardly any eggs !   About a week later, I found a hiding spot, and we got THAT fixed, and started getting a few more eggs.

However, we were still missing the WHITE eggs.  I knew we had ONE chicken left who laid white eggs, and they were no where to be found........... (I just figured the other chickens weren't laying as much)  I should have done the MATH.  15 chickens...... I should be getting 12-13 eggs a day AT LEAST.

I kept asking Rog, have you checked the barn?  She's GOT to be laying them somewhere......the answer was always, "I can't see them".  Well guess what?

Yesterday, there got to be SO MANY that they started falling out of the hiding place.     This caused us to look further, and reach deeper into the recesses of the 1/2 ton bales of hay in the barn.

You guessed it !  Count em' up...........THIRTY FOUR !!!!!  (not counting the ones that were broken)

And as you can see, a few brown chickens are taking advantage of the spot also :)

I have read the FRESH EGGS stay up to 3 weeks without needed refrigeration, but since we have NO WAY of knowing exactly when these were laid......... they all went into the garbage :(

At least we know ANOTHER spot to check now, and our egg production should increase dramatically !!  Yahoo !!

The other day...........and last night

Last Saturday we rented the mini-ex from Ace, and tried to dig around Grandpa's berm in front of his house.  They have a time when the field (in front of their home) is watered, having to watch it carefully so it doesn't breach the berm and flood into their front yard/garage.  Hopefully this will help with future waterings.

Peek-a-boo...........I see you :)

The boys of course had to get in on the action.

Even Thatch !
Then we headed over to our house to fix a window-well problem

There was LITTLE shovel work !
And BIG shovel work.  I'm glad we got this done, but it sure did a number on our front yard, both with the heavy track marks, and also the dirt on the good part of the lawn.

Now for last night...........   I was able to get two more ducks to replace Dark Vegan and Cyclops of Darkness.  One is a Pekin (not to be confused with Peking) Duck, and the other is a Crested (notice the hair on top of her head?) Duck.  Hopefully they will be good additions to our barnyard :)

Here is a better picture of our Turken Hen, renamed Vulcan (because she looks like a Vulture per Roger D. )  She is SO SO odd looking !   She looks like someone started to pluck her, and then decided to quit.  You've heard the saying, so ugly she's cute?  That applies here :)

Shady getting a makeover (haha)

Checking out Brick's uh.......... man parts, which haven't fallen off yet.  CJ doesn't want to take him to the pet show at the fair with what she thinks are less than desirable dried up "parts' hanging there.  She's so picky !  :)

Thatch loves to sit on the 4-wheeler and make "vroom-vroom" noises

We just hung out on the back patio - a nice relaxing night.  We even Facetimed with Landon, who was on his was to the airport to fly out to Manila, and then he's on his way home for a visit !! Yahoo !!
