The Narrows - September 11, 2001

In the early morning hours of September 11, 2001, our group traveled from St. George to Zions National Park, where we got on a shuttle that took us to the drop off point to hike the Narrows.  This picture was taken at a small cabin (can't remember the name) at the drop off point.  I think it was about 7 am MST.
OUR GROUP INCLUDED
Wendy Waldron, Clark Waldron (kneeling), Annette Prescott, Deb Kinsey, Broc and Leslie Durrant (Broc would be leaving on his mission soon), Vicki Rose, Gwen Rich (kneeling), Mark and Janene Walker , and Ernie Durrant.
I am 40 years old in 2001
It was a tiring day.  alot of walking - almost 20 miles
The first part of the day was great, but after we reached the confluence of the Virgin River and Deep Creek Rivers, it was alot harder.  There were bowling ball sized rocks that you had to walk on (not pictured here), and it was slow going.  It started to rain also, and I was a nervous nelly, thinking we were going to caught in a flash flood.
Here we are at the end of the trail - WE MADE IT !
It was about 7 or 8 pm.  We had been in the Narrows all day.
It wasn't until we got on this shuttle, that we heard people talking about an "EVENT" that had happened.
We were totally oblivious to 9/11, and the terrorist attacks on the country while we had been hiking in the Narrows.
