The Ditch

The Welch Ditch runs through The Property.  It comes out of East Canyon creek, through The Property, and on down the line to water the fields all the way to Island Road. The little kids love to play in the ditch.  We just board up the opening so the water backs up a little bit.  Of course the opening is covered with a grate so no one could get accidentally washed inside (when the water is higher), and carried down about 200+ yards until it turns into a grassy ditch again.  

 We buried a big portion of it about 11 years ago, and cemented a portion so the water master could still read the markings in the weir.

 My Dad lost his cell phone once and it was washed inside the pipe, and Landon and Jaden crawled all the way up from the other end and retrieved the ruined phone :)  I can't believe we let them do that!  Of course, Aunt Barbara's piece wasn't piped then, so they only had maybe 100 yards to go through.......still........... makes me nervous!! What were we thinking??

 Everyone worked long and hard on this project .

The other day, Thatch stood and stared into that hole for a long time, wondering what was in there I suppose :)

Treyson and Tagg wanted to head up the OTHER pipe towards the Creek aka The Tunnel of Doom.   Watch the video - it is HILARIOUS !!

The Three Amigos !!

We opened up the end by the Creek, and Treyson climbed down inside the headgate, but didn't dare  travel back towards us at the other end.  It's probably about 30-40 feet long, and the water is only 4-5 inches in the bottom.  I think it was the SPIDERS that freaked him the most :)

Meanwhile, Thatch just played and played and played

He sure puts up with alot from his brothers :)

After awhile he got out and played in the sandbox...........then sat on the bench and shivered and shivered. 

Then he got BACK in for the water fights !!  The boys didn't aim at him, but he sure got squirted none the less.  He didn't mind it one bit. 

He just smiled and smiled and smiled.
