Odds and Ends from the past week

We are now locked down in the Courthouse (no outside entry from the public) - but are still there working, and helping the public through phone, email, and snailmail.

The Yard Master (and crew) have begun to MOW !!!

I fixed a great roast and potatoes in a NEAT old roaster pan that I got from Jenni.  

I enjoyed General Conference so much !!
I watched a little on the computer, and also "cast" my phone onto the TV.  Thank goodness for technology. 

We planted a row of peas in the garden in between conference sessions on Saturday.

She was born in Denmark in 1834

Landon and Kacey and kids have been doing alot of bike riding lately with the kids.

We got new windows at the courthouse.  They started at 7:30 am and it was COLD!!  In the 30's when they started.  We were glad when the sun came up and warmed things up.  

Landon found Payson and Bright (by themselves) - writing a list of things to do. SO SWEET.

Treyson had just been for a ride around "the block"
The block is SOUTH on Hwy 66 to the Lane, then North on MVD to the "Y", then East on Young Street to State Street/Hwy 66, then SOUTH to home.  His dad ran along with him. 

Thatch is still doing gymnastics at home each day on ZOOM

We had a guy come and pull some poly pipe so that the watering of the trees at Grandpa's and Zac's could be done on the sprinkling system instead of by hand. 

You should see this kid do handsprings (front and back), and tucks, and fulls, and layouts, and gainers........ and a bunch of things that I don't even know what they are.

It was a nice day, but windy.  Alot of the farmers were burning their ditches. 

If the sun was shining, and the wind wasn't too bad, it was fairly pleasant in the sun.
These two got all of the toys back out of the shed, and a little water, and had a nice time.
We also got all of the little lights put up along side of the road to the Property, and also the grills and tables set back up under the bowery, and the kitchen/bathroom un-winterized. 

We roasted some hot dogs and had lunch. 

Smashing little voles/gophers.  They sure did a number on the lawns this past winter. 

I made JELLO JIGGLERS (Easter colors)  for all of the grandkids, and we took them down to West Haven for the kids.  Sure hope they liked them.  We stayed outside, and didn't get too close, but the kids kept creeping up on us........   We are planning a HUGE sleepover when this COVID junk is done.  Can't happen soon enough !!!

Also, Bexlee fell on the garage steps a few days ago, and hurt her mouth.  She was pretty proud to let Payson show it off.
 We sure miss our grandkids........

We are going to football games every Thursday for Zac, watching the Varsity games on Friday, and going to Landon's games on Saturday.  Zac has practice every night, and so does Landon.

September 1996 (Letter to Amanda from Gwen)

Dear Mandy, This morning I said allot of things.  I guess I should know better, but I don't.  I don't think I'll ever learn.  I have a problem.  I know it is my problem.  I'm sorry you get caught in the crossfire.  I wish you were happy.  I wish we could make you happy.  I wish allot of things.  I am glad that you are my daughter.  I wouldn't trade you for any other girl, no matter what you think.  All I want is for you to be happy.  When I see you making decisions, that I don't think will make you happy, it makes me feel terrible.  I feel that I have or haven't done something to cause this.  I'm sure this new alternative school will work out for you.  I know you will do well, and am glad you have set a goal to graduate by your birthday.  We will help you to get a car, and then it will be easier for you to get around to your job and other places.  Maybe down at DATC, they can get you lined up with a job or something.  I know you are not happy at the library.   Sometimes it is easier for me to just keep my mouth shut and not talk to you, rather than say something that will make you mad.  I don't want you to think that I don't care about you when we don't talk much.  I know you get along better with your dad, and can talk to him easier than me.  Keep talking to him, and let him help you all he can.  I am here for you too, even though I know you don't want to talk to me.  But if you ever do, I am here, and I do care, and I'm going to try really hard not to piss you off and make you feel like I hate you.  Because I don't hate you, I just want you to be happy, and I guess my idea of what will make you happy is different than yours.  But you are your own person, and you are the only one who can make the decisions in your life, right or wrong.  I just hope you can get through this all and be happy.  Again, I'm sorry for all my screw-ups, hang-ups, and other junk I have made you live through.  I know God will hold me to blame for this, and I'm glad, because it's not your fault.

Wow how time flies!!  When you're having fun?!?!?!?!  HA HA HA HA  Life goes on I guess.  Manda is really mixed up and depressed.  We are getting her into counseling.  She needs help, and somebody to talk to.

I think this is when Grandpa Ben had his first Stroke – need to ask LuAnn for sure. I know he was 70 in August, and it happened during volleyball finals (End of October ish)  I think.  Ask LuAnn for sure.

November

11 - 4-H awards banquet, Zac got one of the best record books again.

Landon was participating in a mini-4-H class on Tuesday's after school during this month.

16 - Morgan lost to Grantsville in the State Championship football game in Orem.  Ryan Randall was the quarterback - Max Peterson, on the line.

December 31, 1996 (Letter from Grandma Tonks, she's up in Idaho with Dawna and Ray)

Dear Gwen and family,  Hello folks, Hope all is well with you folks as well as your mom and dad.  I am feeling fairly well, besides my aching bones hurting now and then.  The weather has changed for the better here.  At first we had so much wind and snow.  But the last few days we've had some lovely sunshine now and then and the snow has stopped, but we had rain.  Ray's mom, Helen is here with them while I am here, she is a lot of company and treats me so nice.  She likes to cook. She is younger than I am.  Of course you know I'm an old woman.  We were invited out for Christmas dinner, it was good.  It was a family.  Dawna works a full day, and Ray has an office in his basement, he's there all day except coming up for lunch and bathroom.  They, Ray and Dawna, have gone as host and hostess over 60 people in 4 buses to Nevada to Jackpot for New Years celebration.  They will be back early in the morning.  So Ray's mom, Helen and I will be alone I guess, this evening.  We could go to a movie, but I can't get around like I would like to.  My legs like to act up.  Dawna and Ray left as overseers at 11 a.m. this morning, Tue..  How's your family? what are your New Years Celebrations going to be or I should say, were.  Because I know this letter will be a few days getting to you.  Bless your heart your sweet and you've always been sweet to me.  Tell everyone to be good this New Year.  I love you,  Grandma Tonks (Flora)
