Finishing up at the Property

Checking out the creek.  It sure is low now that the dam is removed.  Such a change from summer.  It has been pretty warm for November, and Rog has been able to get 99% of the leaves that have fallen, picked up.  That will make for better cleanup in the Spring, that's for sure. 

A sight you don't see very often.  

The steel for the roof came, and Zac and Roger were able to work on it to get it done. 

Thatch came down for a little bit, and played where he and Pays and Bright were playing earlier this Spring before they put the dam in.   Oh boy, they would have had fun playing there yesterday, but it was a little chilly, even with the sun. 

It takes a village !  The pumphouse is all finished, and it looks great.  From tear down on July 24th, to completion of the ridgecap on November 21st.  A GOOD JOB DONE  :)

We decided to stain the posts (and we'll have matching rough cut shutters on either side of the window come Spring)

The paint turned out so great.   Now we just need to get the metal for the roof and we'll be all done. 
The front part of the shed will be used for storage (and the occasional sleepout) 

 

The Pump House

Remember this ?  July 24th, we traveled to Herriman to take a shed down and haul it home.  

After we got it home, we took everything, walls and all, roof, etc.  entirely apart, and then proceeded to rebuild it in the shop. It is a little bit bigger than the one we took down.   The original plan was to rebuild down at the Property right then, but the water table was too high at that point, and we didn't want to waste time by waiting, so went to work re-building in the shop.  

 

It was done in pieces, so that it could be taken apart again easily.  The base, 4 walls, one middle wall, and the truss system.  All built very sturdy, because we knew it would have to be taken apart again and put back together 

It slowly came together, and we reused 95% of the original shed material, and some extra wood we had on hand, and only had to buy a little extra.  We even got some free used Trex decking for the front porch.  After it was finished, and after the water table went down (1st part of October), we pulled it out of the shed (in one piece) with the tractor.  That trusty old John Deere came through !!
 

Meanwhile, down at the Property we dug the pumps out of the ground, and the water level had subsided enough that the pipes could be re-routed.

All of the building pieces were set down at the Property.  The sides, and base were picked up and trailered down.

Kind of like putting a jigsaw puzzle back together.  A very well built jigsaw puzzle. 

Getting the roof back on took 3 tries, but again, our trusty old John Deere was a champ.  

It started out as a cold day - October 24th (exactly 3 months from the day we took the shed down in Herriman), but we got the truss system back on, and proceeded with the plywood on the roof.  Thatcher had a great time hanging with his dad and Grandpa Roger.  

The back of the shed - approx. 6 x 12 is where the pumps will be housed.  We'll put that all back together next spring.  Now we just need to get the back double door on (taken from original shed). 

By the end of the day, it had warmed up nicely.  Thatch better measure right !!  

And here we are at the end - ran out of plywood, so...............

When we woke up to THIS the next day, we weren't very happy.  We were hoping to get it all dried in before snow hit.  Hopefully it will clear up and warm up this coming week, and we can proceed. 

Odds and Ends

Protecting my poor spindly trees from the deer.  Hope it works !

Grandson Treyson is quite the guitar player.  Check him out on instagram.  He practices daily, and has really gotten very good. 

Manda and Bren's remodel is coming along.  Cabinets go in next week. 

The water dropped enough that they were able to get the pumps out of the ground, pipes re-routed, and the ground ready to go for the shed.

Lawnmowing is almost done, and sprinkler winterization has started up.  

We helped to cut back the grapes, which didn't produce too well this year.  

Remember this?  I never was able to make this work for me.  Not even with the quote :(

I've done more canning this year than I ever have before.  These bottles of stewed tomatoes is the last of it (bottling).  I puree them for spaghetti sauce, and use the spaghetti sauce I bottled for Pizza sauce !! Go figure :) 

Thatch's team went undefeated, and they were featured in the Morgan County News, which is back in business.    

Almost voting time.  So grateful that I will have a job for another 4 years, without the worry of being defeated in the election.  

As I said..........I just couldn't make it work, and in less that 3 hours on Morgan Classified, had it sold and gone.  The extra room in the garage is nice.  

These crazy kids love the trampoline.  It's about time to take ours down, probably tomorrow.  

Building the Pump House

 First of all - scroll to the bottom, and look at the pics from the bottom up.  I don't know why they all loaded backwards.  So frustrating! 

About as DONE as it can be at this point, so that we can keep it straight and square.  I'm sure moving it will be a "killer worry" for me...........  The front and back doors will go on at the Property, and the "shutters" on either side of the window, and the trim and the trex decking.  Then of course, we'll have to paint and put plywood and metal on the roof.   We are back to waiting for the water to subside.   Let's see......  what other project can we start on?    

We picked up some SWEET used Trex decking for FREE, and will be putting it down on the deck of the porch.  It's so heavy, we'll do it down at the Property.  

Thatcher loved to hang out and help.  He even built some benches of his own to use on the porch. 

What's that in front?  A porch of course :)  

Seems they always have an audience :) 

It's bigger than it was, and a little extra lumber was needed.  The back part of the shed will be the Pump House part, and the front part will be a mini-bunk house. 

We didn't want to wait..........  We are not patient.......... We (being Zac) haha.  So we started building in the shop.  The plan is to build it, and then take it apart to move it again.  Of course we won't be taking it ALL apart - we will leave the roof, floor and walls intact.  

We wanted to get started immediately down at the Property, but discovered that with needing to move the pumps and pipes, that they were STILL UNDER WATER, because of the high water table..........  Dang it. 

We got it home, and basically took it ALL APART  - every last nail.  This was unexpected to me, because I thought we were just going to put up the walls, and rebuild a 10 x 12 shed.  But Zac had OTHER ideas.

Remember this shed in Herriman?  We took it down on the 24th of July.  It was 10 x 12.
