Me and Rog in May

Getting Mom's new pots ready for her front flowerbed for Mother's Day.  This involved getting the dirt transferred out of the old broken-down wooden pots at the Property, and moving them.
Rog had to clean debris out of the creek most everyday for the first part of May.
Mom and I went to the Syracuse Temple Open House.
We got the garden planted.
Had dinner at Taggarts when Kelly came for a visit.
I'm walking alot of mornings at the cemetery with friends.
Dax graduated!
Love this family !!!
Zac had to fix a pipe/ power pole that Jeff snagged with his plow.
Then he helped us pull out a shrub in front of Mom's house.
We started watering the garden
Burned the burn pile before the burn ban on May 31st.
Planted more corn.
Tilled the bottom of the garden to keep it weed free.

Mom's Iris sure were beautiful this year.
We had a great time (and food!) at Jaden and Abby's baby shower. We wish the new parents (and grandparents) well, with new baby Sophie !

End of August - US (me and Rog)

The garden is winding down, thank goodness.
Beautiful Sunset
Out for a walk
Helped mom get her upstairs rearranged, and de-junked.
Can't remember if I mentioned that LuAnn had a new great grand-daughter named after her.  Meet Zu Zu Lu, Chans and Tausha's latest.
I've been helping Roger out with the mowing since the boys have gone back to school.  This was probably a Wednesday, after River Cove.  Look at those steps and miles !!!
Happy birthday to my friend Stacy, with flowers from mom's and my flower garden.  Also a WASP caught a ride on the flowers (I was holding in my hand while driving).  It was a good thing I didn't notice it until I had parked !!
Corn is on !!

This guy needs a haircut !!
I haven't bugged him all summer, but he's promised he'll get it done for Cam's upcoming wedding.
Mom's raspberry crop hasn't been as good this year.  They didn't grow very high at all.
Two old fogies
I made two pumpkin pies for the boys (while Zac and CJ were in Hawaii)
Made a trip to the Assessor's office to visit, and Janell gave me an award I had won last December. Whooo Hoo !!
Our sunflowers are growing so well :)

Early morning walks

Cam sent this picture the other morning.  She and a friend hiked on South Mountain early one morning at sunrise.  Isn't that a beautiful desert picture? Isn't that a BEAUTIFUL girl ?? (Love you Cam)

Here's a picture from my early morning hike a few days ago.  I walked over to "Ada's" and back.  It will always be that to me.........  "Ada's", meaning Ada Waldron, who lived in an old red brick home (torn down now) at the intersection of Richville Lane and Hwy 66.  It's 3 miles round trip my my house to "Ada's" and back home.
Made me think about other "walks"- my ancestors trekked from the mid-west to the Rocky Mountains to reach the Salt Lake Valley.

Jemima Cook Toone, my 3rd great grandmother was with the ill-fated Martin Willie Handcart company.

My 2nd great grandmother, Martha Derricott Tonks,  fell asleep by the side of the trail, exhausted from helping others.  When she awoke, the wagon train was gone, and she was left alone in the wilderness.  Thankfully she was able to find the trail, and met her husband who was walking back to find her.

My 1st great grandmother, Martha Slade Dickson, crossed the plains at age 10 with her widowed mother and siblings, having a baby brother die in her arms on the plains of Wyoming.

I come from a long line of great women who did HARD THINGS.
I can do hard things too ! I am proud of my heritage.

"May" be I can Catch Up

We are back up and running at work - with Plexiglas in place.

Of course - not all is well in my book !?!?!?!?!?!

Zac is working on the stock trailer
It needs ALOT of work !

New Bikes - Grandma is NERVOUS

The garden is coming along, and we have started watering, and IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM

Glad for HELMETS

Elbow is on the mend

We had to cover, and we still lost some plants to the FROST
Bring on SUMMER !!

Snazzy gear - Snazzy kid - Snazzy bike
But he wore the kick starter off REALLY QUICK :)

Mom decided to plant the beans along the fence this year.

As we get the sprinkling system ready to go every year, it seems there are always a problem or two......or in this case........ a new pump was needed........ (YIKES!)

Mom and Me

Bright came up to me, and very quietly said, "I've read the rules, and I'm ready to walk on the bridge now"   Such a sweetheart - love that girl.

Beautiful East Canyon Creek - looking North.  They haven't put in the Welch Ditch Dam yet.

Oh the things my man will do for me, if I ask sweetly........
Love you ROGER D.
(The tree is all cleaned up, and ready for grandkids, thanks to his trusty chainsaw)

Walking home from the Property one night.  Sun was sure SORE on my eyes.  I had to keep looking down it was so bright.  I was glad when Rog picked me up halfway across the Lane.

Watching Dad weld on his motorcycle pipe.

Do you relate !?!

Sweet Bexlee - I remember this dress !
Bright was wearing it 4 years ago (2016), while Zac and CJ were building their home.  I have a picture of Bright IN THE MUD in this dress.  Looks no worse for wear :)  I'm glad Kacey kept it.

Some painting/staining in the Dog Room goin' on.

Pool Time !

The other night, Landon called me and asked, "What was that book about a man and his steam shovel?"  Made me so happy.  I ordered up the book, and sent it on it's way, straight to Landon so he could read his kids the most loved book from his childhood.  "Mike Mulligan, and his Steam Shovel".  I also ordered a new one for our house, and when Zac and the kids came over on Mother's Day evening, he proceeded to read it with Thatcher.  One of the BEST BOOKS EVER !

Remember the iris garden we dug out?  Well, it's all fixed up now, emptied, sprayed, weed barrier put down, and nice grey rock on top.  Thanks to Tagg for the help :)

Looks good, and Grandma D is very happy. g
