We got all of iris dug out

Tomatoes planted

Flower bed spruced up with logs from the back of the garden that no one wanted.  I had Roger cut them up with THIS in mind. 

Sprinklers up and going, making the lawn green. Nice sunsets. 

Hiding pipes away in the barn, beginning to get shop cleaned out. 

Trailers moved to our barn yard so the back of the shop looks like...........

THIS !!!  In preparation for the BIG DAY 

Visiting with our good friends, who did a little clean up at their place also.  

I take selfies of us whenever I can.  Rog is smiling more in his old age ! 

We got us a NEW Ranger.  Pretty  happy about that :) 

I should have taken an after picture.  We are staining and painting, getting ready for the BIG DAY 

Staining the backdrop (for the BIG DAY) while listening to Project Hail Mary for the umpteenth time. 

Fixing the bottom of the swing.  Bought outdoor fabric, did alot of measuring, sewed it up, added grommets, and tied on swing with paracord.  It was  JOINT effort, with not too much swearing. 

TA DAH! !!

Zac had to cover an opening in the tree with wire mesh so the birds wouldn't make a $&#^@* mess on the platform and slide.  Seems to have worked !!

his friends Carston and Boston went to a Kid LaRoi concert.  Had a great time. 

Tagg and Zac helped alot as we turn the garden into grass.  Alot of Prep work, and alot of cleaning out to get ready for the BIG DAY

Memorial Day Breakfast

The Sod took hold really well, and you can't even tell now (June 18th) 

I'm still working at the temple.  Mom and I go every Wednesday, and she does work for the dead, while I serve in my calling. 

Getting the mow strip done was quite the job.

There were SO many broken sprinkler this year.  

Planted tomatoes in our flower bed..................

because we aren't doing a garden this year.  
Next year (or later this year) - this will all be grass ! 

Roger was cook at Sophie's 1 year birthday party.
What a fun day !! 

 

Garden done and put to bed !

Onions all out, drying and given away.
Next year we won't have as many. 

Garden is pretty empty, with alot of grass that needs to be plowed in. 

We ended up with quite a few peppers, enough for me to do two batches of Salsa. 

Our two rows of corn were just about right, with enough to eat for about a month, and some to freeze. 

Our one pumpkin plant (actually 4 seeds in a hill) did well, and no Squash bugs were found.  Enough pumpkins for the grandkids. Yeah ! 

Salsa turned out great.  VeAnn Day (Day Farms) lives part time in our ward, and I team "play" with her in Primary.  She let me pick about 1 1/2 bushels for free from her plot in West Layton.  I was sure appreciative, an gave her a bottle of salsa, which she loved, and wanted the recipe for. 

My own tomato plant, planted in my front flower bed, FINALLY produced some ORANGE tomatoes.  They were sure yummy !  

 

Reunion, and the truth about the garden

We had a Tonks Family Reunion at the Property on Saturday.
14 of the 22 grandkids (and their families) were there.
We are all first cousins, grand-children of Frank and Flora Tonks.
Gwen (me), Mark (my brother), Troy Tonks (Uncle Larry's boy), Erika in front (my sister), Casey in back (Uncle Blaine's boy), Brett (Uncle Blaine's boy), Laurie (Aunt Jolene's girl), Stormy (the youngest - Uncle Blaine's girl), David (Aunt Jolene's boy) Mary and Michael and Richard (Uncle Larry's kids),  Kim and Russell (Aunt Jolene's kids) 
4 grandkids are deceased (Lance, Tonya, Danny, and Candy)
4 grandkids didn't make it (Stephen and Aaron - Uncle Larry's boys) and Susan and Heidi (Aunt Jolene's girls).

We had a great time, and had such a good turn out.  I didn't even bother to try and get a picture of the GREAT grandkids, there were too many !  

Richard and I were talking, and he said as he drove by Dad's garden on the way in,
 "The corn sure misses Lee".

2025 garden - it is so sad.  We have tried our best, and watered it regularly...........but look at it this year compared to.............

2015 - Dad just did an amazing job.  I don't think we'll ever be able to be as good as he was :(
