This and That

They are re-paving the road in front of our home.  As a part of this, they are replacing culverts.  This is near our field, down the road towards Morgan from our home.  They are preparing to dig up the old culvert that comes down off the hill, and waters our field (on the right).

   

They dug out the old nasty broken steel piping, and have replaced it with cement pipe.

    

They will connect right on to the headgate we built about 20 years ago

TOMATO TIME

I went over to mom and dad's yesterday to do tomato juice.

It's quite the process - but we've got it down pretty good.  Mom is SO organized.  I get the tomatoes cut up, and she does everything else PLUS helps cut up tomatoes when she can.

Everything else is getting them on the stove cooking, getting bottles ready, getting lids ready, and a million other things.

Dad is in charge of the Victorio Strainer, and the contraption, stools, motor, paper on the floor, pans, etc. etc. to go along with this.  Like I said, it's quite the process, but after many many years, they have it down pat.  

This is the 2nd most awesome sight !  An empty SINK - Yahoo!  One hour and 15 minutes, and they are DONE being cut up...........but that's not the end of the process :)

In to each quart bottle goes, 2 Tablespoons lemon juice, 2 teaspoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt, along with the juice of course. 

Then out to the range for cooking they go.

The MOST awesome sight.  The finished product.  48 beautiful quarts of wonderful juice, which our family uses a TON of.

He's been my buddy for THREE DAYS !

AWESOME eater !!  Here is a list of everything I can remember that he has eaten over the past three days.  Hamburger, hot-dog, chicken, lasagna, macaroni salad, cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, lemonade, Pepsi, banana, ice cream, peach cobbler, raspberries, tomatoes, watermelon, blueberries, hot cereal, beans, bread, cheese, and I'm sure I missed something.  He literally eats ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you put in front of him.  He especially loves tomatoes.  That's what is all over the make-shift bib he is wearing above.  He likes to slurp the juice and seeds up.

Always a fun time in the barnyard :)

Payson !!  We miss you !!  Such a little HAM.  He loves to wear his mom's high heels around the house.  What kid doesn't?  Seems like I've got a picture of Landon around somewhere that would be a twinner to this.  He started up Pre-School again today.  We can hardly wait to hear a report on how it went.  Love you guys !!

Labor Day walk to the Property.  The Bettinson's came up to mom and dad's and put up freezer corn.  There they are with their three boys in front, and they are playing Grandma and Grandpa to Thatcher.   They started the 1.2.3. swing, and ended up doing it ALL THE WAY to the Property.  Look at that beautiful sky !!  It was a GREAT day :)

A Day with Thatcher

He went to bed at 10:30 pm on Saturday night.  This is at 9:30 am, just before he woke up.  11 hours !  Can't ask for more than that :)

We went for a walk down to the "Y".  He jabbered and kicked his feet, and played with the seatbelt harness the entire time.  His favorite part was going through the sprinklers in front of John Wilkinson's  and getting a little bit wet.

He rode this contraption around and around and around and around.......no wonder he slept for 11 hours !

Helping Grandpa in the barnyard.  We finally got the dog run moved under the barn - Yahoo !  We had to make sure he stayed right next to us.  I'm finally convinced that the Turkey's would take him if he got too close.  I think it's because he's the only human shorter than they are.  He's not intimidating enough !

This is the first time that Miss Piggy has even gotten close to Shady, since the first day they were introduced.  Maybe she has forgotten how RUDELY (and accidentally) she was kicked in the head by Shady's running excited hooves.   We've had them separated since that time.

Thatch and Billy are buddies.  Thatch will pet him, touch his ears, you name it.  It is so fun to watch the interaction.  Billy just stands there so patient, and Thatch is gentle also. 

I think this one would stand here for hours and just watch the animals.  Up and down the fence, back and forth, in and out.
It's great.

Hey everything is good.. Still no phone but it's ok I am surviving without it!:) Today we had all of Landon and Cody's directors over to play badminton and eat for a team building activity.. They were all really nice and talkative - it was fun!

Then we were all napping and the power went out again for the second day in a row and it gets SO HOT!!! So we went to the store to return my charger that blew up my phone.. They weren't going to give us back our money but it's a good thing Landon and Cody stayed strong, so we got the money back... We were all so mad when we gave them back the charger and showed them the picture of the charger and outlet they all started laughing! Oh I think I about lost it..

What else.... Oh yes, Crystal came over on Friday to help me sew my kitchen curtains so that they didn't drag on the floor! That was nice. 

Payson is sick with the worst cough I have ever heard him have but no fever yet and I am hoping he doesn't get one!!

Odds and Ends

We have been having the most beautiful
 sunrises and sunsets lately :)

I finally got around to cleaning out my flower garden.
Thatch was a BIG helper :)

I know - not the right kind of seat, but it has to do in a pinch.  CJ said that he would take a nap when she dropped him off at 1pm................2 1/2 hours later he was still going strong, and when we had to go pick up Treyson from school.................he was OUT LIKE A LIGHT !

This one made me laugh out loud !

Somebody lost their FIRST TOOTH - the right way ;)
Remember he lost the top two at Christmas time a few years ago.
He said the Tooth Fairy brought him a penny.........uh, I think he got more than that :)
