Last Saturday Fun

We had an incident in the barnyard.   Thatcher was run over by Billy (the goat) when he (the goat) was startled by a clanking chain.  Thatch was nailed right on the eye by Billy's hoof.

The culprit

On a happier note - we purchased two Peacocks, or I should say a Peacock (male) and a Peahen (female).  They are just over a year old.  We spent all morning enclosing the top of the dog run.  We will keep them in here until next Spring, or else they are apt to fly away.

Miss Piggy claimed the top of the #$&* pile, and was sleeping soundly, when these two yahoos decided she needed to be petted.  She sure makes a sound when she is startled........petted......gotten too close to..........

Sam will chew on anything, including Treyson's HAIR !!

We headed over to the Property to cook a hot dog, and do some burning.  The kids FACES were BURNING, with the hot coals.

He's feeling MUCH better now :)

Before we lit the burn pile on fire, Rog and I ran over to the offices to pick up four big boxes which needed to be destroyed.   The boys had a fun time spreading them around.

It was a great BIG FIRE

It even caught the tree up above on fire !

Then we started on the fenceline and ditch bank near HWY 66

Tried to get Thatch to sleep - but no luck there.........

The boys had such a great time helping.  I think we all have a bit of PYRO MANIA in all of us ;)

Love my MOM !

It was fun to see how the boys pitched in, and the Grandpa's relinquished their rakes.  Such is the life of a giving Grandpa :)

Thatch and Mommy

He is a character some times !

The boys hid Easter Eggs from each other, at different ends of the Property.  They had a great time doing this.

Getting a drink with a little help from Big Brother.

Easter - Because of Him

I know that Jesus lives ! I know that life goes on after death. Family ties and friendships are NOT broken, and DO NOT end at death.  I looks forward to that day, when we can all be together again.

Fun Friday

Yesterday morning I got a phone call.  It was CJ, she and Thatcher were out in the driveway...........ready to feed the animals !

He loves it !

Later in the day we went down to Ogden with mom and dad to pick up the "new" lawn mower for the property.  They are excited to see how it works !!

Dad is just about ready to plant in his grow boxes.  We get to have one here at our house.  I'm looking forward to having fresh tomatoes sooner than expected.

Finishing touches on the swing set.

Grandpa and his little buddy

Almost there...........

He loves the Ranger :)

And the creek........

Little Zac Sargent, Treyson and Tagg - the creek is UP slightly from all of this warm weather.

Adding the seats........

And there they go !!!!

They LOVED it !

So did this BIG guy :)

And boy can they catch some air, when Dad does an Under-doggy.....the first time Tagg was taken aback, but then he said, MORE MORE :)

Check out these videos below of our fun day.

Ready............Set.............Swing...........!!!!

We've been waiting for dryer warmer weather to work on the swingset.  It's been about a month since the holes were dug.  I've worried about this part  so much.  Oh how I wish we would have cut the poles quite a bit before setting them in the ground.  I was so nervous for Zac to cut them off.  We decided on only 12' height. so he had quite a bit to cut.

Thank goodness they were both cut off without any problems.  I sure sighed a big sigh of relief when it was done.

They boys had fun playing around on the cross beam before it was put up

It is so fun to be together as a family.

There was an "incident", and some tears...........and apologies................, but it all turned out okay.

I had my doubts that this would work.   And I was super stressed about this part too, until I realized that the pole would be on the "down" side of the metal lift (so it wouldn't roll back on the tractor driver and decapitate him).........see?  I have my Grandma Dickson in me TO THE BONE !!!

Roger was a MASTER at placing the pole.  Zac had cut grooves into the upright poles, so the crossbeam was somewhat cradled.  Rog just had to have the soft accurate TOUCH, and put it in place.  He did so well!   I got nervous here again, with Zac walking under the beam...

After securing the end where the scaffolding was, he got out ON the beams to release the tie downs....... I was stressing.
Grandma took the boys up to the house to go to the bathroom.  They both refuse to use the porta john (go figure).  While up there, of course she got them ice cream cones.........and Treyson, bless his heart, said, "Don't you think it would be nice if we took one back down to Thatch?"
Instead of moving the scaffolding back to the other side, Zac just used the tractor for transportaion and as a ladder.

He bolted? screwed? the top beam at each end, and will work to fashion some heavy metal brackets to hold it in place.

Tonight (Wednesday), while I wasn't there to take pics, they got all of the holes drilled for the I-bolts, which hold the chains.  They got the chains attached, but we won't put the swing seats on until we get the top braced better.

It was/is a great PROJECT !!

This was our Saturday....................

Early morning we headed over to Eden, where Zac was to finish the Striders Half Marathon.  This finish line is at an Assisted Living Center (outside area), and this cute bear is near their entrance.  Thatch didn't know what to think - he was kind of nervous !

Here he comes -  13.1 miles in 1 hour 29 minutes

Showing off the medal, which was actually 1/2 of a medal.  He will receive the other half at a later race.

It was a beautiful morning - not too cold.  It was great to go and support Zac.

Thatcher got a hold of my phone/camera, and proceeded to take a few pics !

Pretty good - huh?

Oh my heck!  Is that a smile ??

We went home, and headed over to the property..........it just kept getting gloomier and gloomier.  This pic is where Tagg grabbed me and Treyson and yelled, "GROUP HUG"!!!!

The big boys and I started a fire while everyone else was over on the other side fencing.  We were hoping to have a weenie roast.

Most pics are of Tagg - he is quite the poser........
Here he is being an Air-bender, or something like that :)

It started sprinkling............and they just kept on fencing, so we decided to break out the marshmellows instead.

I made the mistake of telling Tagg to wipe his sticky fingers off on the grass.  Bad Idea !!

We finally had to give up - it started to POUR!!  The fencers came over from the other side of the creek, and we all retired to our house for hotdogs on the grill.  It's been a boring day at home since then.

Come What May and Love It

A few years ago, I was privileged to attend one of the General Conference sessions in person, and was able to se Elder Wirthlin give this, his last talk from the pulpit.  It changed the way I look at things, and also became the title of our Family Blog.  I'm looking forward to General Conference tomorrow and Sunday.

This morning I had a phone call that made my day.  As I headed to Ogden shopping, my entire outlook was brighter.  I in turn tried to make others happy, and I think I succeeded.  My highlight was secretly paying for three missionaries "Hi-chews" behind me in line at Costco.  It was a GREAT Day !!
