The little boys slept over last night while Zac and CJ made their way to Provo. Zac would be competing his his FIRST marathon, the
Utah Valley Marathon. They stayed at the Marriott, and Zac was up by 2:30 am ( nervous?!) to catch the bus at 3:30 am. About 4:00am, Zac's bus pulled into the starting point, in the town of Wallsburg, in Wasatch County, near Deer Creek Reservoir. Zac said they stood around burning barrels to keep warm until 6am, when the full-marathoners started. They ran down Provo Canyon, past the BYU Campus, and straight up University Avenue in down town Provo. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and everyone was so excited.
We left Morgan about 6:30 am, with two sleepy boys in tow. A stop a McDonald's, and non-stop talking, got us to Provo by 8am.
Zac was hoping for a time between 3:40 and 4 hours. They said if you double your 1/2 marathon time and add 20 minutes, that should be your marathon time. Well, he beat that by 7 minutes ! He came in at 3 hours and 33 minutes. It was a great, almost party atmosphere there, and he had a BIG SMILE on his face as he ran by, waving at the family. Unfortunately, I was so excited, that I didn't get a picture !?!?!? I know, you can't believe it either :)
Enjoy the other pics I did take:
We made posters last night - I think they turned out great !
It's amazing what you can do with fly-swatters :)
No Jenni - they weren't "used" - brand new from the dollar store :)
We all had TEAM ZAC shirts on - even ROGER !
CJ, it was a GREAT idea :D
We are standing there on the West side of the street, waiting for Zac to come along, and I look over and right across from us is *Todd and Nikki and Cedar and Sawyer !! We were so excited to see them. Nikki had just completed the 1/2 marathon in about 2 hours. Way to go Nikki !
* For those of you who don't know, Todd is Roger's sister's son
They hung out with us, and waited to cheer Zac as he crossed the finish line.

There were crazy characters around, but Tagg is scared of NOTHING - and even gave the Evil Scarecrow a HIGH FIVE :)
Doctor Jess and family were there as he completed the marathon also.
This was number 30 something for him - he's quite the runner !
I've got another picture of Jess - that I just couldn't bring myself to post on the blog...........Maybe if I get his permission, I'll do a recap :)
Zac we are so so proud of you
26.2 miles in 3:33 - WOW !!
He finally figured out the key to NOT getting sick (puking) after the race - he felt great. Of course he's a LOT sore tonight :) **The key - drink ALOT of water for 2-3 days before the race, and he popped a "shot block" every 5 miles - worked great.
I'd say Treyson is becoming quite the photographer !
Gotta love that kid :)
