Sickies

We loaded up in CJ's suburban this morning at 6am. Treyson was crying, his belly hurt :( We got on the freeway, and he puked. Turned around at Peterson, took he and Tagg and CJ home. We were sorry they wouldn't be going to Idaho Falls with us for the funeral. CJ texts me at 10 am, she's now throwing up ! Grandma D. came and picked up Tagg, because he was bawling, he didn't want to be around his mom when she had her head hanging in the toilet. On the way home from Idaho this afternoon/evening, Zac started feeling rotten. I just talked to CJ, he's now throwing up ! And it's his birthday no less !!! Treyson's b-day is tomorrow, but they are probably going to postpone it a day. Tagg was sick last week, so hopefully he doesn't get it. Heck - Hope I don't get it !!

Fall is my FAVORITE season :)

Last week we traveled up Pine Canyon in the Lost Creek area. This is the canyon that heads up to the West across from John Toone's home. We were in the company of Steve Richins, and were going to look at his cabin. I haven't been in this area for about 8 years, back when we were doing alot of snowmobiling. Then of course, it was always covered in snow.

We traveled back in about 10 miles over bumpy roads and it took us about an hour and 10 minutes. The colors were spectacular. It was a great ride.

We even saw a little "Snow on the Mountain" - hahahahah

Look! you can even see China Town where we were on Labor Day !

He will be missed

Randy G. Hartman
December 4, 1951 - September 22, 2010

Randy Gayle Hartman, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 22, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

Randy was born December 4, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to Gayle Hartman and Betty Mortensen Hartman. He grew up in Clinton, Utah and graduated from Clearfield High School. He then took drafting courses at Weber State.

Randy married Lynette Rich May 7, 1971, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Layton, Utah, where he worked for Wycoff, then moved to Idaho Falls 23 years ago, where he worked for UPS until his retirement in 2009.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, sports, and four wheeling with his grandchildren. He could fix anything and loved to work on cars and putter around in the garage, but what he really loved most was his wonderful grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

Randy is survived by his loving spouse of 39 years, Lynette,
son - Heath (Heidi) Hartman of Idaho Falls, ID;
two daughters - Brooke (Jason) Lords of Rexburg, ID, and Sommer (Chris) Holst of Ucon, ID;
three brothers - Russ Hartman of Littleton, CO, Ronn Hartman of East Layton, UT, Steve Hartman of Clinton, UT; a sister - Sue Fahnert of Linden, UT; and eight grandchildren, Kyler, Tegan, Journee, Tavyn, Taye, Myley, Treyce, Diesel, and a new arrival on the way.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Beatrice Hartman and Clint and Mae Mortensen.

To our beloved Husband, Father, and Papa – You are truly going to be missed. We love you so much and you will always be in our hearts!

Randy is Roger's brother-in-law. We last saw him at Landon and Kacey's wedding reception. We are so glad he was well enough to come down with Lynette & Sommer. He will be missed.

A Mouse in the House

Yes, this is in our house
Yes, I got down on my knees and took an up close picture
Yes Leslie, I am one sick person :)

Over the past week we've caught three mice in our house. This is the last one - I HOPE !! I want to proudly report that I have disposed of all three, without Roger's help.

Funny story (not really) - I bought a big bag of almonds from Sam's Club. Cost? About $12.00. I had them in my pantry at the top of the stairs. I'm lazy and didn't close the ziploc on the top of the bag. I mean really, it would be SUCH a pain to open and close it every I reached in to grab a few, right? Of course, I left the pantry sliding door open about 8 inches, so I could easily reach in and grab me a few, many many times during the day. They are yummy :)

I may never eat another almond...........

Friday night I couldn't sleep after consuming two Diet Coke's. I hadn't had one in a month, and I forgot how caffeine makes me a night owl. I decided to sew on a quilt, and I was at my dining room table sewing away. I stopped sewing for a minute and thought I heard something. I quietly turned my head, and sure enough. There was a mouse, running from under my stove, in the pantry door, and MUCH TO MY HORROR, appeared on the shelf where my beloved almonds were located !!!!!

That's right folks, I watched this little bugger go back and forth and back and forth, about 3 times a minute, taking one almond each time.

I kept telling myself, that this was the FIRST NIGHT he had been busy. There was NO WAY I had eaten out of that bag all day long, that had been contaminated the night before - Yeah right.

I finally had enough of the mouse show, and I got up and put a mouse trap right in the almond bag and went to bed. I totally expected a FAT FULL DEAD mouse the next morning.

Instead I found an EMPTY almond bag, with the trap fully cocked, with NO MOUSE !!!

Well, to make a long story short, Roger bought some "old school" mouse traps, and I think our situation is taken care of. At least I hope so.

PS - My dear friend gave me a fresh bag of almonds. I'm keeping these LOCKED UP !!

Who's who?

A studly young man (approaching 30), took his family to the Utah State Fair, and proceeded to WHOOP the STRONG MAN machine.......multiple times.
Like Father Like Son :)

A "hip" mom took two excited kids to see these guys last night.
Jonas Brothers Rule !

Two newlyweds are studying together.
By next May, they'll be coming to a Pharmacy near you !

A hard working distribution manager, works 13+ hours a day, 6-7 days a week, and still comes home as pleasant and lovable as ever. He's the best.

A crazy old lady I know, sometimes wants to throw computers through the wall.
Maybe she can get the studly STRONG man to take a mallet to it instead......

Our Life Lately

On September 1st, we purchased a new car!
New to US anyway :)
We (I should say I - I'm the one driving it), LOVE IT !!
It's Ben & Lu's "old" car, a Toyota Camry

I went riding around in THIS fun car the other day.
A friend who shall remain nameless, "borrowed" it while her husband was away on a business trip. Way Way Cool.............too cool for me !!
Thanks friend !!

Went to lunch on 9/11 to celebrate this "old woman's" birthday :)
Love you Terri !

These are Roger's niece's kids.......
I guess that makes him a GREAT uncle, and me a GREAT aunt !
They are GREAT kids !!
Kelsie, Caitlin, and Nathan
Can you tell which ones are siblings?

Wish this picture turned out better, I HATE my face in it.
I'm lucky Roger D. consented, so I decided to go with it.
Wish you could see what was behind us in this picture.........
The picture below will have to do.

We ate at "The Oaks" in Ogden Canyon, overlooking the river.
The food was delicious. We WILL be going back.

And last but not least, two little boys "getting down" :)
That is, until someone gets their GEEtaur stolen !

Chinatown

No, not the one in San Francisco...........the one in Croydon/Lost Creek/Morgan/Utah !

The last time I was at Chinatown was when I was about 13 years old. My brother went up for a scouting adventure, and our family went up there first to check it out. We rode in Grandpa Tonks' old army jeep.

Once during my YW years, we parked at Pentz' cabin and hiked to it. Needless to say, I never made it. That was a night to remember. Deborah Peay and Melissa Olsen just kept walking and walking, and someone had to rein them in, and we didn't get the kids home until about 11pm that night. We had parents calling and worried, and it was an experience !!

On Labor Day this year, our family went with Camaron Pentz and his family via 4-wheelers and Rangers. We started early, about 9am, and it was a little chilly. The dust was a problem, but then it always is in the hills around Morgan in the summertime. It was great to see Chinatown once again, and I'm glad my kids and grandkids can now say they have been there. It was a great adventure for Labor Day.

Camaron was a great guide, and told us alot of stories

When we got there - Treyson and Tagg were held on to at ALL TIMES !!
Very scary at the edge. CJ was very nervous :)

Olive monsters........

And a great time was had by all !

Rah Rah Rah

Cam is participating in a mini-cheer class. It looks like she's happy and having fun. This photo was taken from Manda's cell, that's why it's so small. Hopefully we'll get more details and pics soon !

She called Grandpa Roger the other morning and said, "Guess what Grandpa?" "I'm coming to Utah !" We have countdown to October 11th (Fall break). Yahoo !! Sure hope the weather is still warm and nice.

Laboring on Labor Day Weekend

We headed up to the Uintas early Saturday morning.
Steve Nielsen had some dead trees he wanted taken down on his lot in Manor Lands.
We had the whole Utah Fam Dam there. Me, Roger, Zac & CJ & boys, and Landon & Kacey, and Grandpa and Grandma Rich.

Everyone was such a great help.
Even the little boys!

Tagg and Treyson love to help Grandpa Roger

Landon and Kacey had a great time, and they were such good help.

Zac and Landon being He-Men
Take a look at this video below - almost an accident !!

Time for a little lunch break - Rootbeer milk and boiled eggs !
Doesn't get any better than that :)

Tagg and Treyson were busy busy busy, usually on a "pretend" bear hunt of some kind. In this video they found a hole, and were convinced it was a BEAVER hole :)

Joni and Kerry and Linda and Bruce came down for a little while, and we sure appreciated their help. Treyson and Tagg are telling Linda and Grandma a BIG story I'm sure.

We went back to Porter's lot after we were through cutting wood. Boy, it's sure nice. I'm glad we finally got to see it. It's on top of a little hill, and the pines were swaying in the wind, and it was beautiful and warm.

This is the next to last tree that was cut down.
It was the only one they had to put a rope on. They didn't want it falling on Steve Nielsen's trailer !!

If you want to see more pictures of our whole day, check them out here.
