“If we keep no diary [journal], the path crumbles away behind us as our feet leave it; and days gone by are but little more than a blank, broken by a few distorted shadows. Life is all confined within the limits of to-day….”
Yesterday we were at Zac and CJ's and heard a loud commotion down the street. Turners were moving their cows. Treyson and Tagg went down to investigate, with Grandma along for moral support. They may be country boys, but when those cows are bellowing full bore, it is a little unsettling. Tagg is by far the most nervous :)
One of the Turner grand kids was there. I actually think he is a year older than Treyson, but about half his size. This picture, with Treyson's hands in his pockets reminds me of this picture below :)
Last night, Landon and Kacey came up to get our bikes.
They rode over to Blake and Brittany's, and while there, found out that they needed bike helmets for the race......... Landon came home and tried on Cam's Hannah Montana helmet.
He opted for a different one :)
Today at 9am, right before the race, it was a DOWNPOUR, with hail !!
Everyone was soaked, but it cleared off, and turned out great.
Landon, Cody, Blake, Brittany, Andy, Jordyn, Kacey
These guys are ready and raring to go kick some butt !!
And they are off !! for a 1 1/2 mile run
2nd leg - Bike 6 miles
Landon swears his back tire was flat.
He calls me halfway through the race, the first words out of my mouth were, "What happened?!?!?!" His words........"The bike ride is kickin' my butt!!"
Don't look for my name on the sidebar........I'm Incognito !! :)
Here are a couple of quotes from Sue, I think she hit the nail right on the head ! "I think self-control is one of the most critical character traits one needs to develop to be successful in life. You never really mature until you learn to delay immediate gratification in exchange for something of greater value in the long-term."
"Easy never turns out to be easy, really. Anything of value in this life requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice. So many people do what is easy at the time, but end up paying the price later. Just do the difficult thing, make the difficult choice because ultimately it will bring you greater rewards. And just because something is hard, so what? You won't die, you won't shrivel up and melt away into nothingness, you won't permanently break down. You will learn to persist and eventually succeed, and you will feel damn proud of what you accomplished."
First off, we had Zac and the boys up to eat homemade pizza on Thursday night. CJ was working. The boys each made their own pizza. Treyson forgot he didn't like pepperoni, and loaded his up.....what a silly kid :)
CJ and I went grocery shopping on Friday.
Tagg was a TERROR in Walmart.........this is the aftermath back in the car.
Sam's was much better, we each took a boy, headed in different directions, and sampled ALL they had to eat on the "end" aisles. Fun Times !!
Relay for life was GREAT !!! Tim, I hope you won, and that Stacy got PAYBACK - big time!
The Rich, Porter, Lay, and Frost family were out in force to support Grandpa Ben.
Landon and Kacey helped Brit with the boys.
They are a sweet handful.
It was a struggle to get the purple shirt on Ben, and walk around the track, and by the time he got around to us, he was yelling for all of us to "get out here !!"
Trin and her bunch.
I never did get over there to get a raffle ticket for that awesome quilt :(
I thought you guys had THE BEST shirts - so cute !!
We took a break from Relay and ran to Rod & Val's daughter's wedding.
Congrats to Kendra !
While there, I could resist this picture of Reed and Anna, two of the nicest people we know.
Then my camera died :( Dang, I would have liked to get a picture of Kelly Wilson, Rog and Haz.
While there, it was exciting times !! Just as we were pulling up, their garage caught on fire - wow ! It was put out before the fire engines needed to be called, and that's a good thing because all of the firefighters I know were at Relay for Life with the Boody Bunch !!
Saturday we played at the property at the Tonks Family Reunion
Tagg stealing mom's drink :)
Mark's family
Kuk and boys
Cute little video of Tagg and Braxton (Kacey's nephew) at the water spout.
Tagg takes a nasty fall, but he's a tough little nut, and recovers nicely.
The oldies but goodies
Dad, Mom, Lillis, Lorin, Ray, Dawna, Bruce & Carol
Then after being TOTALLY exhausted........
We took these little monkeys home for a sleepover while their mom and dad went out to celebrate their 7th anniversary.
They LOVE the bubble tub:)
They were such good little boys, and I slept with them down in the extra room downstairs. Treyson in the twin bed, Grandma in the double bed, and Tagg in the crib, all in the same small room, with Grandma able to hold Tagg's hand through the bars. They went to sleep so well, and we had a good night.
Manda does NOT forward emails - EVER.
Yesterday she sent this one....., and it meant a lot to me.
I may just have shed a happy tear :**)
Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough
doesn't come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what
the vacuum just sucked up....
Real Mothers sometimes ask
'Why me?', and get their answer when a little voice says,
'Because I love you best..'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth
is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother........
The Images of Mother 4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything! 8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot! 12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn’t know everything! 14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn’t have a clue. 16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago. 18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date! 25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it! 35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion. 45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it? 65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom...
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from within her eyes, the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!
Landon found out a few days ago, that he has been chosen to be the recipient of a $1000 scholarship given to a Focus Employee. This is a Memorial Scholarship in remembrance of four employees who were killed while providing humanitarian service as representatives from the company.
Landon enjoys working at Focus. He started there shortly after his return from his mission, working on the phones. He soon was promoted to Coach, and after a few months, became a Recruiter. Recently he has transferred back into the Operations side of the business, and works directly with business clients, specifically in the Focus Phillipines Division.
Focus is a great company, and supports their employees by offering them reimbursement for schooling if a certain grade point average is maintained.
Landon will be able to use this scholarship, as he takes 3 classes at Weber State University, and a pharmacy tech class through Ogden Weber Applied Technology Center this fall.
