1979
1979??**
No date, but I think it might have been after Ambure died**
Gwen,
I love you so much, that words cannot tell you.
I hope someday we can be a happy family, because we both deserve to be
happy, and I want to be happy with you.
Everything will work out. I am
sure that our Father in heaven knows best, and I know it is hard for you, but
honey, I am always here for you night or day.
Please lean on me. I need it as
much as you do. Put this little note in
your purse so that when you are not with me, and you feel blue, you can look at
it and feel better, because I know it is hard.
Gwen, I love you from the bottom of my heart. Roger
January
- I started working at Browning Arms Co.
I worked in the Cash department with Carol Thackeray (soon to be Mrs.
Dan Wilkinson),Shirlee Richins Matthews (later divorced), Julie Jones, Kay O'Driscoll, Judy
Hebdon and Connie Worden. Kevin
Thredgold was my boss. I remember that
during the month of December I had been looking for a job, and it so happened
that I had an interview at Brownings the day after Ambure's funeral. Diane Smith (Coach Smith's wife) also worked
there, and pulled a few strings so that I could interview. I met with Kevin Thredgold, and he had
already been briefed about what had happened with Ambure. I know he felt sorry for me, and offered me
the job on the spot. I didn't have any
10-key adding machine experience at all, but he gave me one to take home and
practice on, and I started working there two weeks later. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for
Kevin. Knowing that he was really taking
a chance by hiring me, when I didn't know squat!
March
- We got a new truck. It was a 1978
cream and maroon short-bed Chevy. I had
been driving our 1972 Ford when I wrecked with Ambure, and it was totaled. Bruce fixed it up, and sold it for us.
April
- Layne and Susan got married.
May
- I graduated from Morgan High School.
June
- We went on vacation with the Rich's again to Lava Hot Springs. This is the vacation where we drove back down
through Preston, and then over to Liberty.
We camped up St. Charles Canyon, and went to Minnetonka Caves.
June
– Grandpa and Grandma Tonks celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary, and I sat at their guest book.
July
- I got pregnant with Mandy.
October
– Halloween costume party at Bruce and Linda’s.
I dressed as an old fat black man, and Roger dressed at a girl in
pig-tails.
December
- We moved to Loosli's at 331 N. 700 E.
I was working with Carol Wilkinson at this time, and her husband's (Dan
Wilkinson) grandma had just died. She
had been living in the one side of Shirl and Leora Loosli's duplex. I called immediately, and was able to get
this apartment for us. Shirl & Leora
only charged us $100.00 a month rent, for the whole 5 years that we lived
there. This is the home where Mandy and
Zac came home to after being born. I
have a lot of fond memories of this place.
It had a big living room, 2 bedrooms (one was microscopic), a bathroom,
kitchen, back porch, and basement (unfinished).
We had to do all of the yard work and lawn mowing as part of our rent
agreement. Right next door was the home
of Mrs. Terry. She died soon after we
moved there, and our good friends Joan and Chet Adams bought her house. We had great times being neighbors. Our kids were the same ages, and played
together.
